Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Did your team win yesterday? I was torn. Since I used to live in Indiana, I love the Colts, but since I always root for the underdog and with Drew Brees as the Saints' QB, who used to be the QB at Purdue, which was just five minutes from my house, I wanted to root for them too. Whew! What a conundrum. So, I just decided that either way...my team won.
No great reads to report for me this week. I spent most of my time finishing up page proofs for LAST CHANCE. Wait, I'll report that as a great read! Every time I read LAST CHANCE, I love it a little more. Can't wait for you guys to meet McKenna in NO CHANCE. I hope you like her as much as I do.
After finishing up page proofs, I went back to writing synopses for the new trilogy and spent some time looking into some advertising opportunities for the new trilogy. Be sure to tell your neighbors, friends and fellow romance readers that on February 23, NO CHANCE will be in stores. Would love to sell a zillion that first day. Well, okay, I don't think they're printing a zillion, but a couple of statewide sell-outs would be fun. (:
Enough about me, what about you? First, how much snow did you get? All we had was rain here, which I'm ever so grateful for as opposed to the frozen stuff. And what wonderful reads do you have to recommend for us this week? My TBR list is growing larger, but it can never be too large. Right?
We may have a special guest pop in sometime today. I know she's super busy, so in case she can't come by, I won't say who. However, if she gets the CHANCE, I know you'll be thrilled to hear from her. She's one of our favorites! Hopefully she'll tell us about one of her upcoming releases.
Okay, that's it for me. I'll come back from time to time and see what great books you're recommending. On Wednesday, I'll post again and give you a CHANCE to win an early copy of NO CHANCE.
Until later, stay safe and warm and keep on reading!
I reread Brockmann's "Into the Night". All we have been having here is rain also. I don't care for the white stuff. Can't wait for Christy's books to come out, am on pins and needles waiting. I am also waiting for Nina Bruhn's and Stephanie Tyler's new books to come out too.
ReplyDeleteOk ladies I'm sold! I ordered Hard to Hold by Stephanie Tyler. I got it on Saturday... I loved it!!! She's easily in my top 5 favorite authors! Wow what a great book! I can't wait to read the next two! So that is my recommendation for the day. I'm so grateful that all of you recommended the book last week. Anyway... up here in Wyoming we got a little snow but if it much most of it blew away. It was -6 when I woke up this morning. So its another great day to read! Have a great day everyone!
ReplyDeleteHey Jackie, glad you didn't get any of the white stuff. And lots to look forward to book-wise. Just two more weeks till NO CHANCE. Yay! And then you can see Gabe, and your personal fav Cole, again. (:
ReplyDeleteYay, CMAC. So glad you enjoyed Stephanie's book. Another success story for 'Recommend Monday'!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. -6? That's just...well, that just something beyond cold. Stay warm and enjoy a good book or two.
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteI finished a Brockmann TS book last night as well! Great minds think alike. :)
I also read Diane Chamberlain's Breaking the Silence and Mary Burton's Dead Ringer this weekend. Right now, the only romance book I'm reading is One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake.
And Christy, we, of course, watched the Super Bowl last night. I think some of the family would be in official mourning today due to the end of the football season, but we awoke to a surprise snow day. Four inches and still coming down! That's a blizzard to us! Thankfully, even with all of that, it is considerably warmer than -6! Wow!
I'm off to play in the snow, make some lunch, and READ!! (It's great to have an unexpected CHANCE to do that.) :)
Afternoon Ladies.
ReplyDeleteI did not get the CHANCE to watch the game. I was stuck at a meeting from 6:00 to 11:40 lastnight.
It was only the SECOND CHANCE I have had to get out of the house with the 12 inches of snow we got..Yep 1 foot yuck!! I did not get the CHANCE to watch the game. I was stuck at a meeting from 6:00 to 11:40 lastnight.
It was only the SECOND CHANCE I have had to get out of the house with the 12 inches of snow we got..Yep 1 foot yuck!!
And It might be the LAST CHANCE too. We have 8-16 more heading our way..starting tonight.
And It might be the LAST CHANCE too. We have 8-16 more heading our way..starting tonight. That's Ohio for you!!!
I finished up Carpe Corpus by Rachel Caine. And got the CHANCE to start SK"s Bad Attitude, but have not got far. Because of all of the shoveling.
Everyone have a nice day. I'll check back later..
ok why did it double part of my post?*scratching head*
ReplyDeleteHello All,
ReplyDeleteWell, the "big" storm that was predicted for my area turned into no storm at all when we got about a half an inch of snow. I do believe weather forecasting is one of the few jobs were you can be wrong and nothing comes of it :-).
The Superbowl was fun, I was rooting for Peyton, but I was happy for the Saints and Drew Brees (who was my fantasy QB).
Anyway, last week, I read Jill Shalvis' Slow Heat - which was a great follow up to Double Play. Right now, I just started Amy Rench's Fallen Rogue - it's got a paranormal /sci-fi bent in it, which is not usually my thing. However, I'm liking the book a lot so far.
Bye for now
Let's see. I read Elizabeth Lowell "Color of Death" Two Julie Garwood books "the Wedding" and "the prize" Very awesome both of them. Nora Roberts The "MacGregor Brides" and i am currently reading the "MacGregor Grooms" I'd like to read Victoria Dahl's new release "Lead Me On" and nalini Singh's new release"Archangel's kiss" BUT i can't find them at Walmart and besides Kmart it's the only place to buy locally. I'll have to wait til i can go out to the city. Blah!
ReplyDeleteLisa
Hi Ladies,
ReplyDeleteI reread Judith Mcnaught's Kingdom Of Dreams. I love this book, I have reread it thru the years and I never get tired of it. I just started Blood Tapestry by Ishbel Moore and It's really good so far. We got a lil of the white stuff , but mostly rain in VA.Beach this weekend. They say it's going to rain/snow tomorrow, I'm so not looking forward to that. I can't wait until your new book is released, Christy. I have allready gotten on everyone's nerve raving about the three I got, they are going to be really upset when I force all of them to buy the new book. Happy reading Everyone :)
LOL Ida,
ReplyDeleteI thought you just were being assertive with your post! :)
Hope you are able to get some rest today after your long meeting. I'm staying very busy ignoring my paperwork today! It's a big job...

Mary,
ReplyDeleteI almost bought the Laura Moore book this weekend. May have to go back and get it - when the roads clear! I thought you had mentioned One Reckless Summer before. Just started it - so far, I can understand everyone's fascination with Mick! :)
Hi Kara
ReplyDeleteOklanannie highly recommended it last week & I have all her backlist still which I loved.
It'll take a day or so to get over Mick anyway. Took my breath away.
Snowy Monday in Oklahoma! Am babysitting my 7-month old granddaughter today and having lots of fun! While she naps, I thought I would jump online and see what's going on today.
ReplyDeleteKara C -- buy Laura Moore's book "Remember Me" -- you won't regret it! There are two more to come in the series about three sisters and a Virginia horse farm and their heroes!
I was happy for the Saints although my grandson wanted "Payton" to win. When I saw Drew Brees afer the game with his little boy in headphones and Drew in tears, I was elated for him and happy for New Orleans. They really did outplay the Colts.
Back to babysitting chores. Just wanted to say hi!
Hey, I'm here, guys. Honest! I'm just doing a bit of running around and will check in later. Please keep talking. Some great recommends and discussion going on!
ReplyDeleteAnybody see that hit & run?
ReplyDelete*Snort*
ReplyDeleteHi all...You know what we should get going on here? A book exchange so we can send books to other readers who want to read them for like shipping cost or something. I know all I do with my books I have already read is donate them to the library for a book sale (then I accidently buy them back). I am not a rereader kinda girl. I read a book once and that is it. Ok..Now for what I have read...I read Blood Ties by Kay Hooper. It was excellent and I can't wait for her new trilogy to start. Now I am reading Deeper Then Dead by Tami Hoag. For my preorders I got Erica Spindlers new book and the new one by Jodi Picoultt. For my next book to read I think it will be Beverly Bartons new on...I got it this week but decided to go with the Hoag one first...The snow report in Wisconsin is none yet but there is a really big CHANCE of getting over a foot tonight and tomrrow. Enjoy your reading.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as though I need to grab "One Reckless Summer" & "Remember Me" you guys make it sound great. Twania, I am jealous, I went to school at CNU & TNCC there in Newport News and Hampton. I loved it there so many fun things to do. My sister is still there.
ReplyDeleteCMAC buy the rest of her triology, you won't regret it.
Going to some book exchanges in a couple of weeks Kara. Maybe I will get lucky and find some reasonable audio books. :)
Christy I plan on being at B&N on the 23rd when it opens to grab Gabe and run into......COLE! :)
Mary G.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did notice that fly by whammy! LOL
Whew! Sorry to be MIA today. Had a whole lot of things come up and time just got away from me.
ReplyDeleteKara, congrats on the snow! I know you and your boys enjoyed it. And hopefully it lessened the pain of no football. That's probably comparable to having no books for me, so I can definitely identify with that.
Thanks for the great recommends!
LOL, Ida. I thought you were really trying to make your
ReplyDeletepoint. Too funny. Sorry you missed the Super Bowl. And wow, on the snow. At least you got to read a bit, but 8-16 inches more. Oh wow. I just can't imagine. Stay warm, safe and dry!
Hey Jennifer, sounds like a good miss on the snow. And thanks for the recommend on Jill Shalvis. I've been meaning to read her!
ReplyDeleteWow, Lisa. You got some major reading done. That's great! Hope you find the books you're looking for. That's so frustrating when you want them and can't find them. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHey Tawania, KOD is one of my all time favorite McNaught books. Doesn't she write the most romantic words. I always close her books with a long sigh of contentment...and a few tears too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you missed most of the snow. And so glad you enjoyed my books!
Mary G. Looks like when you grab a CHANCE to read, you're definitely fixed. Good for you. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHey Oklanannie, you're so right about Drew and his son. That was just the sweetest scene. Still makes me smile today.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that granddaughter!
Wow, Sarah, sounds like you had some great reads and more lined up. If you get that foot of snow, you'll definitely be fixed. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYay, Jackie! Sounds like a bookstore run is in your future!
ReplyDeleteChristy,
ReplyDeleteStill no snow your way? I'm about ready to share. My hubby got stuck at work so he'll be spending the night there. The boys and I...let's just say we've had a LOT of quality time together today. Maybe even enough that we'll be glad when we finally go back to school (which may not be tomorrow). I think since they've shut themselves off in their rooms from each other - and me - I'll grab a book!
YES!! I got my copy of No Chance today! Thanks Christy! I can't wait to get started! I'll let everyone know how great it is!! Winning your contest has just made my last two months!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Sometimes too much of a good thing is...well, too much.
ReplyDeleteNope, no snow for us. Rain tonight and a little chilly but not too bad.
Yay, CMAC. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWTG cmac!!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for you, really I am. I am not being sarcastic or anything
(but what do you look like - I want to make you a voodoo doll as as a gift - really).
Just kidding. That's great. I know you'll enjoy it but let us know anyway.
I read Jayne Ann Krentz's "Fired Up" over the weekend. I like her Arcane books.
ReplyDeleteHey Jane, thanks for the recommend. JAK is awesome!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I know it's late, but here I am. Crazy, CRAZY day at the newspaper — and about six inches of new snow to drive through, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm the editor-in-chief of the paper, which means that I run the editorial department and help assist the publisher. Today was meetings, meetings, meetings. And then for a change of pace we held some meetings.
I'm so sorry to be straggling in here past everyone's bedtime, but I did want to say hello. If it's too late, I understand. I do promise to get cloned as soon as I can.
Christy, congrats on finish page proofs. It seems like just when you think you're done with a book, then there are copy edits and proofs and marketing and Web site updates and... Oh, yes, a proposal for your next novel.
I'm in the middle of a proposal for my next I-Team book. I've been on the same page for three weekends now, stuck on a particular plot point even though I know I won't stick to the synopsis once I start writing. Oh, well.
As you hinted, I do have a book coming out. ;-)
The next I-Team story, Naked Edge will be out on March 2. I, too, hope a zillion people will run out and get it on release day. Yes, mark it on your calendars -- Feb. 23 for No Chance and March 2 for Naked Edge. :-)
This one tells Kat's story. She's the American Indian reporter on the I-Team. She's been a part of the series since Hard Evidence.
Thanks for inviting me. Sorry again to show up so darn late!
Yay, Pamela! Thanks so much for stopping by. And it's never, ever too late to talk to one of our favorite authors. I am so looking forward to Naked Edge. It looks soooooo goooood!
ReplyDeleteI know you are super, super busy, so thank you so much for coming by. Good luck on your proposal. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
You know, Christy, it dawns on me that No Chance and Naked Edge have a couple of things besides genre in common.
ReplyDeleteBoth feature purple on the covers. And both have a hero named... Gabe.
Beautiful color and nice name, don't you think?
LOL. You're right. I love the purple. Your cover is gorgeous. And Gabe is one of my favorite names. I think it's a favorite for a lot of writers because I've noticed it a lot lately. Though, I'm of the opinion, you can't ever have too many Gabes in this world. (:
ReplyDeleteOMG Pamela
ReplyDeleteWe, including Christy, are always talking about your books. This is romantic suspense headquarters. Kara C read Unlawful Contact AGAIN & it still got to her so I picked it up again last week to reread my fave parts. We must be so ready for Naked Edge. You're womderful to talk to. Thanks for coming. See you at your blog.
Thanks, Christy. All of your covers are wonderful -- both sensual and suspense-y. And I agree about the Gabe thing. I've always loved that name. If I had continued to produce boys, one of them would have ended up with that name. LOL! (I stopped at two.)
ReplyDeleteHi, Mary! Good to see you here. I'm so glad Kara enjoyed EE again. (Hmm, her name sounds familiar. LOL!) I can't wait to get my author copies of NE because then I can start giving them away. And thanks, Mary. You're very sweet!
Christy, do you have your copies of No Chance? You know, this is my 9th novel, but I still rip open that box when it arrives and then walk around carrying my new release as if it were a new baby. :-)
Pamela, yes. Got my author copies last week and spent several minutes squeeing, smiling and sighing. Seeing that box at my door and ripping it open to find shiny new books with my name on them...makes all the hard work so worth it.
ReplyDeleteGood grief Christy!
ReplyDeleteWhen you said one of our favorites may drop by today, you did not say 'one of Kara's personal favorite authors of all time'! Mary's right, Pamela, I reread, not just EE, but all your I Team books, a couple of weeks ago. CANNOT wait for the new book to come out.
The next few weeks are going to be great for new releases!
And, you don't mind if I tell people you 'borrowed my name' for EE because we're such good friends, right? :)
Thanks for stopping by today.
I can't wait to get mine, Christy!
ReplyDeleteKara, absolutely I named the heroine after you. Was there ever any doubt? :-)
True story: A woman walked up to me in a bookstore, told me her name was Kara McMillan and demanded a free copy of the book because I had used "her" name in it.
And, goodness, that's an I-Team read-a-thon! I hope they stood up to another read. Do you have a personal favorite or a favorite hero?
LOL Kara, I know. What a wonderful treat!
ReplyDeleteOh Pam, I can't imagine what I would say if someone said that to me. That's wild.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know you asked Kara, but my personal fav is Julian. Oh. My. Heavens. That man made me sigh with delight.
Christy
ReplyDeleteThanks for having one of our faves here. What a treat. Pamela is so talented, nice & down to earth. Mmm
sounds like someone else I know here LOL. Goodnight girls.
Ahh, yes. Julian Darcangelo. Dark Angel. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that after writing that book I didn't think I'd ever be able to write another hero again. I adore him, too.
You know, I actually gave that woman a signed book. I was so flabbergasted! I didn't know what to do.
I've always been a Marc Hunter fan, but after the many times we've debated heroes at this site, and after rereading the series, I can definitely see why all of you are so firmly planted in Julian's camp. Even in Unlawful Contact he was just so sigh worthy.
ReplyDeleteAnd Christy, my real name is Skylar James. I'll be expecting one of those author copies in the mail. :)
Marc is my favorite, too.
ReplyDeleteKara, Jane — I'm so glad to know that Marc has his devoted fans as well. What he went through for his sister and for Sophie... No hero of mine has ever sacrificed more, except for Gabe. But, then, you all haven't met him yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for having me over, Christy! I'm off to bed. But I will check back tomorrow to check for any posts that come in then.
Man! I missed the fun with Christy AND Pamela! The one day that I am not near my computer --- geesh! That will teach me!
ReplyDeleteHere in Georgia, we only got rain, which we absolutely do not need! And being the Northerner that I am, I would have preferred the snow :)
I just finished reading Shiloh Walker's Fragile and I loved it! Can't wait for Broken to come out later this year! And I just started Laura Moore's Remember Me! It is great so far :)
I am so excited for both No Chance and Naked Edge to come out --- at least they don't come out on the same day!
OK, since I haven't had my tea yet this morning and I am not even sure what I posted above makes sense...I am going to stop talking now!
Aly
Hi Nutty Mother
ReplyDeleteYay another Shiloh fan. I haven't read her Hunter's series yet but I have all her contemps. Fragile & The Missing are two of my faves of all books.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI loved Fragile. Isn't there a sequel coming to that fairly soon?
Jane,
So glad Marc has another fan. Julian is such a fave around here, we have to stick up for our man! :)
Pamels, boy do I understand meetings! In my line of work, we actually have meetings to discuss our upcoming meetings! Sheesh...
And as for the purple covers, I think we had this same discussion with Stephaine Tyler, or maybe it was on her blog. Her newest book is purple as his her friend Larissa Ione's latest paranormal. Those two books are already out and doing great. Your upcoming books will no doubt continue that trend. Are authors a supersticious bunch? If so we may soon see many more purple covers out there.LOL
Hope everyone has a great day. Seems the snow may clear enough for my husband to make it home from work today, and I can get out of this house - alone - if only for a while!
Hi Kara
ReplyDeleteYes Broken is due Mar 2. I love her writing,so deeply emotional & passionate. Have you read any others? Hoping your snow clears soon.
LOL Kara on the Skylar James thing.
ReplyDeleteKara, I did LOL at your "Skylar James" comment. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think some authors are superstitious. If purple is good luck, then I'll embrace that and keep my fingers crossed.
Meetings to discuss meetings? We did a bit of that. LOL!
Nutty Mother, I'm no good without my coffee. But what you wrote did make sense, I thought.
Off to work where I get to transcribe a two-hour interview. Ug.
Thanks, everyone! Even though I got here really late, it's been a lot of fun chatting with you. Have a great day!
Kara, your Skylar James comment should have come with a spew warning. I almost choked on my coffee. You are too funny!
ReplyDeleteHey Aly, we missed you yesterday. So glad you dropped in today. And thanks for the recommend on Shiloh Walker. I purchased The Missing the other day, but haven't had the CHANCE to read it yet. Sounds great!
Pamela, thank you so much for coming by. As you can see, you've got lots of fans over here. And March 2 can't come soon enough for us!
Thanks to everyone for all the great recommends and comments. I'm huddling in my office today. Got some major rain going on, so it's a great day to stay in and write. Be sure to come by tomorrow for a CHANCE to win an early copy of NO CHANCE!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!
You mean Happy Teaseday LOL.
ReplyDeleteI'm going for WOW WOW WEDNESDAY! I would LOVE to win a copy of "NO CHANCE."
ReplyDeleteIsn't February supposed to be a short month? Well, it seems like it's taking FOREVER for the 23rd of February to arrive!
See y'all tomorrow!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteWow. I'm sorry I missed at the excitement at the end of the day yesterday.
Pamela Clare is one of my favorite authors and I can't wait for Naked Edge to come out. I want to put my vote in for Julian :-), although Marc is no slouch, either.
This blog is great - it seems that everyone likes the same authors as I do.
Count me in as a Shiloh Walker fan too - I've read The Missing and Fragile - can't wait for Broken.
Until tomorrow...
Hey everyone,
ReplyDeleteI know I'm posting a late, but I'm with Jennifer - I'm sorry I missed all the fun yesterday. I love Pamela Clare. Julian is one of my favorites.
This weekend, I did get to read Slow Heat by Jill Shalvis.
And, I just found out I have a snow day tomorrow. I'm in New York and they're expecting a huge snow blizzard. I'm a teacher, and this is the first time, they annouced school closings - and it hasn't even started snowing.
Alexandra,
ReplyDeleteI'm a teacher too, and we've been out for the past two days due to snow. Those two days, on top of the weekend, sound great in theory, but I think it's safe to say my boys and I are ready for a change! LOL
Everyone seems to love Julian. I do too, but gotta stick with Marc Hunter as my fave. :)
Hi, Jennifer and Alexandra — Two more votes for Julian. He certainly has his following. I won't tell him, though, because I wouldn't want him to get too cocky.
ReplyDeleteHe and Marc compete for everything, so it sees fitting that they compete for readers, too.
I posted an excerpt with Gabe, Marc and Julian on my blog — a little I-Team male bonding, you know, where they have to insult one another. (What is it with guys, anyway?)
How nice to have snow days! We rarely get those in Colorado. It has to really dump — a foot or three — before they close anything.
Stay safe and warm everyone!
It just let me back on. Hey everyone. Lol Kara
ReplyDeleteAnd No Christy I have no idea why it did that.
