Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All!

How was your weekend? Did you have some spooky trick-or-treaters or some really cute ones? Our Halloween here was kind of odd. For some reason our subdivision decided that Saturday was the night everyone should trick-or-treat and not Halloween night. We didn't know this until right before we went out to dinner Saturday night. (I haven't been out of the house to read the posted signs and hubby is just so anxious to get home to me and the girls each night, he didn't notice the signs either. LOL, at least, that was my interpretation.) So we were late getting back and had to stop on the way home and get emergency candy. I waited to buy it. Having bags of candy around too early pretty much ensures that those little trick-or-treaters won't get as many treats. Chocolate in the house + racing toward a deadline writer = massive chocolate gluttony. Final conclusion? I've decided my subdivision has way too much power to just up and decide when trick-or-treating can take place, however, you can be sure we'll read the signs next year!

Since I am so close to deadline, I haven't had a chance to read anything new. SWEET JUSTICE is almost done. I'm in the midst of editing, revising and playing with the ending that's just not where I want it to be yet. I think it was last Thursday that I cried all day. Never sobbed so hard while writing a book before, but never had one that involved what this one involves. I hope you all love it because I gotta tell you, I do think it's the best book I've ever written. Fingers crossed you will agree!

So, unfortunately, no new recommend from me, but I will give a recommendation of one of my all time favorites. Have you read Flowers From the Storm by Laura Kinsale? If you've not read it, I strongly encourage it. Such an absolutely beautiful historical romance full of angst, an unusual hero and heroine pairing, and a love story that will stay with you forever.

Monday, November 15 is my deadline for SWEET JUSTICE, so other than Recommend Monday, I'll be offline for the next two weeks. If you need to get in touch with me, drop me an email at christy@christyreece.com or you can message me on Facebook or Twitter. I'll do my best to get back to you within a day or two.

Looking forward to hearing about your great read recommendations.

Have a wonderful first day of November everyone!

  1. Good luck with the final push on the book. I'm sure we will all agree that it is going to be fab!!!! (how could it be anything else???)

My weekend was jam packed. Two soccer games for my daughter, plus a birthday party and getting ready for her stint as a Chinese Dragon Lady! I ate way too much candy while I was home handing out treats. The most bizarre was a full grown and rather chunky Buzz Lightyear as a trick-or-treater. Very disturbing!!!

Last week I read Two Lethal LIes by Annie Solomon. Very good read. The unusual part is that I didn't really like the hero all that much in the beginning. But, once I got all the story, it changed my perception of him and I ended up liking him very much.

  2. Happy Monday all. I am crawling out of a sugar coma. My kids has a great time trick or treating last night. They got a ton of candy that does NOT need to be in my house.. So I am packing what won't melt into a care package and sending it overseas to my cousin so he can pass it out to the Afghanistan kids.I know they will enjoy it more than my kids would.

I am still in my reading slump. I did get one book read last week. Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden. It was a good book. It took me over 5 days to read it which is very unusual for me. I am reading Fade to Black by Leslie Parrish and also Wild Orchids By Karen Robards. I never have two books going at the same time, but with my reading slump I choose which ever one sounds the best at the time. lol

Christy I can't imagine how AWESOME this book is going to be. If you think it is the best one yet then all I can say is I CAN'T WAIT!!! Good luck with the deadline!

  6. Hi everyone,
Christy, I keep my fingers crossed for sweet justice, but Iam sure Iam not the only one counting the months til it will be published - will there be an excerpt ? Hopefully yes.
This year there were not so many kids comming for their halloween treets - maybe due to sunday and bad weather.

Crystal what a great idea to send the sweets to Afghanistan .
I must tell you I finished "extreme exposur
e" last week and after the fist 50 or 6o pages I got really drawn into it and it was the great read you and Hope recommended. I just ordered "hard evidence" and "unlawful contact" as well as "naked edge" .( What would I do without amazon ?)
Did you read this one already ?
Btw what is "MTM" - I am at a loss with all those acronyms (or is it abbreviation ?)

Currently I am reading Jill Shalvis` "simply irresistible" and as I am one of three sisters I really love the bickering between them.
    Have a great week everyone.
    Ha

  7. Elke - MTM is Pamela Clare's blog. Check it out if you haven't yet today. http://pamelaclare.blogspot.com/2010/11/mtm-beauty-of-bulge.html

I am glad you liked Extreme Exposure. When you get done with the series, please be sure to weigh in, as it whos team you are on. You just finished Reece, then there is Julian and Marc and another one but I haven't read his yet. I happen to like Julian the best, he is yummy.

I really loved Jill Shalivs' book too. I can't wait till the next one is out. Did you ever get your Maya Banks book?

So happy you enjoyed Hard Evidence. I can't wait for you to read Hard Evidence an Unlawful Contact. They are both at the top of my favorite books of all time list. Naked Edge even if it isn't my favorite among the I-Team series it is a MUST read. Very heart wrenching is all I can say. It is a very very good book. I can't wait until Zach's book comes out!! I'm so impatient for all these amazing books to come out....Sigh... :(
MTM (Man-Titty-Monday) Pamela puts pictures up of hunky guys every Monday. Some are "mild" sexy men. Today is not so much in the mild department. lol
I completely understand the "what would I do without Amazon" comment. Out here in nowhereville they still haven't put Stephanie Tyler's new book out! Grr if it doesn't grace the selves soon I'll order it. Have a good day Elke and be sure to let us know if you visit MTM! :)

  9. Hope and Crystal, thanks for the explanation. I just checked it out - what can I say - whow.

Hope I did get "the darkest hour" and it was great- I think there is a great series to come -all those brohters definitely must have their own story.

I ´ll let you know which team I am on as soon as Iam finished with the I-team.

  10. Christy, the neighbors in my area decided to trick or treat on Saturday and Sunday! ---Not a piece of chocolate to be found in my house today! :(

Christy, after you meet your deadline, you should cook and enjoy Paula Deen's Turtle Brownie Trifle--you deserve it!

I am still reading Shelly Laurneston's dragon series and her lions and wolves Prides series. They are so entertaining!

I saw the new Harry Potter movie advertise a couple of days ago---oh yeah, I love that series! Can't wait to see it!

    Have a fantastic week everyone!

  11. Christy, I am SO anxious to read this new book. I LOVE that you love it. And your best book ever? I have to say, you've set the bar really, really high. :)
I did my promised rereads this week, with books by you, Marie Force, and Pamela Clare. I've got others waiting for me to revisit, but for now I'm back to new or new to me books. I finished If You Believe by Kristin Hannah. Right now I am reading Best of Friends by Susan Mallery and Set the Dark on Fire by Jill Sorenson. So far they are both very good.
I have that historical book you recommended! Will have to move it up in my TBR pile. One question - am I going to cry? :)

  12. *waving*
    I'm late but I'm here!!
Now I have to remember what I read last week. :-P

Ummm...I finished the Jo Davis series, that was good.
    LOVED Stephanie Tyler's newest.
I read something else, but it's not coming to mind, so I guess I won't recommend it.

The good news in my house is that my baby is over his pneumonia as of today he's back to his perky happy self. *phew* that was a crazy haul last week.

  14. Good luck with your deadline, Christy! I am so with you--Fatal Consequences due Nov. 30. Gulp.

I am reading Madeline Hunter's Sinful in Satin whenever I can sneak in a few minutes of reading for fun (remember that?) I like the book and I always enjoy her engaging style, but the story is moving too slowly for me. Trying not to lose interest because I think it's going to get really good. Any time now...

  15. Marie, I hate when that happens in a book. Especially when I only have a limited time to read. It seems to prolong the torture. LOL

  16. Me, too, Ronlyn. It's very slowwwww. I'll let you know if it eventually redeems itself! :-)
