How was your week last week? Did you do anything fabulously exciting? Read anything wonderful you want to recommend to us?
Mine was eventful, fun, frustrating, sad, and exhilarating. Yes, I'm living in Jamie and Dylan's world these days and they took me on quite a ride last week. This week promises to be even more so. All I can do is hang on in white-knuckled terror as they propel me along with them. Whew!
Also, last week I received spectacular news that I can't share yet. Yes, I am a tease in the worst way. However, I made a promise, so until I get the go ahead, I'll just torture you. (:
No new recommends for me this week. However, I noticed a post on Facebook from Teresa Medeiros. She mentioned the reissue of several historical romances from one of my all time favorite writers--Laurie McBain. Anyone read her? I think Moonstruck Madness and Devil's Desire were my favorites. These wonderfully rich, luscious books were some of the very first romances I read and helped make me a fan forever. I just ordered Moonstruck Madness--no e-book reading on this one for me. The cover is too awesome not to have the paperback in hand!
Okay, that's it for me as I head back into the danger-zone. Wish us luck!
Have a wonderful week everyone. And don't forget to tell us what we should be reading!
Yes you are a tease but congrats a ahead of time lOL.
ReplyDeleteI read & loved:
Perfect Play - Jaci Burton
Promise Canyon - Robyn Carr
Now reading & loving:
Wild Man Creek by Robyn Carr.
Oh & curses to Anne. I reread In Your Eyes by Laura Moore even though I have way too many TBR books. It was fabulous so it's ok LOL.
Hi Christy,happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteOne, bad to tease on a Monday---now I will be wondering into the weekend! :)
I read Lucy Monroe, Moon Craving, Shannon McKenna's Extreme Danger and Fade to Midnight.
This was the first time I had read a Shannon McKenna book. I enjoyed them.
Christy, congrats on the good news...even if you are a tease :)
ReplyDeleteMy Presidents day is looking pretty good...I just got a package from B&N containing Maya Banks Hidden Away, Shannon Butcher's Living on the Edge and Laura Moore's Remember Me. WOOHOO!
Laura...I've read Shannon McKenna's Extreme Danger and Fade to Midnight as well and really enjoyed them.
Mary...I loved Perfect Play too! I'm excited to read Gavin's book when it comes out!
Christy, I took your recommendation and read Dangerous Secrets...it was a good read! I read the first book in Lisa Marie Rice's Dangerous series, Dangerou Lover. One thing I noticed is her books end quickly...not a lot of wrap up or HEA. Especially with her book Dangerous Lover.
Right now I'm reading Deadly Fear, love it so far!
Hope everyone has a good week!
Seriously, Christy. I may have to rethink our friendship. Teasing us about D&J AND your spectacular news? Cruel and unusual, really...
ReplyDeleteI finished The Pretender finally, and loved it! I don't know why it always takes me longer to read historicals, but there it is. I'm rereading PC's Unlawful Contact because, well, I needed a fix. LOL
Lots of great new books coming out soon.
I've not read Laurie McBain. Will have to check her out (as if I NEED any more books in my TBR mountain.) Despite your cruelty to us, I hope your roller coaster time with D&J is a blast.
Forgot - I'm also halfway through Slave by Cheryl Brooks. Very fun & imaginitive.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone!
ReplyDeleteChristy -its so not fair to tease us with "spectacular news" and not sharing. Now everyone is guessing what you are keeping from us. Maybe we should each make a guess and who is closesed to the truth will get a signed copy of "SWEET JUSTICE" ? (just kidding, lol).
Last week I read SEPs "natural born charmer" and really loved Blue. After rereading "no chance" and "last chance" I got my fill of thrill, action and romantic suspense and was able to go back to my next SEP on my list.
I also read Kat Martins "against the fire" - I liked it so much that I ordered the other two books "against the wind" and " against the law". I just got notice from amazon that the third book in this series will be deliverd before the first - so reading in the correct order is out of the question (sorry Crystal) but I started wrong anyway.
I discovered Kat Martin after checking in on Hope´s bookshelf - so thank you Hope, I enjoy your reviews.
Have a great week everyone
Happy Pres Day everyone!
ReplyDeleteI'm hanging out with my guys today after a wonderfully fun weekend with my hubby. ~swoon~
I'm trying to remember what all I read last week. I finished up The Ranger by Monica McCarty, which was very good.
I flew through Cindy Kirk's One Night Stand, which was a great fun sexy read.
I think there was something else, but it's not coming to mind right off.
I can't wait to hear about your wonderful news Christy, and I hope D&J take it easy on you.
Congratulations on your mysterious news...I'm sure it's awesome whatever it is! I don't have any recommends from last week, but I did get to meet the fabulous Marie Force live and in person. That was a special treat! This past weekend opened the dance competition season. My daughter finished 3rd and 6th in solos, a less than stellar start for her, but she still did a great job. More importantly, this competition raised money for the Make-a-Wish foundation!
ReplyDeleteOh Christy you are killing me! All this Dylan talk is messing with my mind and then you throw in this exciting news that you can't share. I pray that I make it until the SWEET books are released!
ReplyDeleteElke...sigh.... reading out of order...shaking my head. You'll be a huge fan of Jackie's then. lol She encourages such behavior. LOL
Oh just in case anyone is wondering I've put in an order for Ronlyns hubby to write a "how to romance your woman" booklet for anyone whose someone might need a few tips. He takes the cake when it comes to romancing his lady. Right Ronlyn?
Last week I read the 5th Liar's Club book The Rogue. This was my favorite one and they were all very good.
I also read the FIRST Kat Martin book Against the Wind. :) I can't wait to read the next one either.
I am headed back to Hell's Eight this week. Sam is really heating things up.
Hopefully everyone had a wonderful long weekend. We got more snow, more cold air lows -20's this week. With more snow headed our way. So Christy enjoy that warm weather enough for me too.
-20, Crystal? We've been in shorts the past three days! It's cooling off tonight. Tomorrow's high is mid 50's. Guess we don't get any sympathy from you, huh? LOL! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteRight Crystal. My hubby man goes above and beyond with treating me right. Not that I'm complaining mind you, not at all. :-)
ReplyDeleteHope everyone had a good three day holiday (if you were one of the lucky ones to get the additional day off!).
ReplyDeleteGood for you Mary! Always a good time to reread "In Your Eyes" or anything by Laura Moore!!
Kara - I spent time with both Julian and Reece this weekend. Did a reread of Extreme Exposure and Hard Evidence. Love those books!
New reads included Elizabeth Hoyt's "Notorious Pleasures, the 2nd book in her excellent "Maiden Lanes" historical series. I loved it! Like the first one, "Wicked Intentions", it was superb and I can't wait for the third "Scandalous Desires" in November 2011.
Read something a little different and enjoyed the heck out of it. "Crazy for the Storm", by Norman Ellestad is his story of survival at age 11, when the plane he was in, along with his father and others, crashed in the California mountains. His father was killed and Norman descended the 8,000 feet alone. It's not only a story of survival but of the extraordinary bond he and his father shared and how he attributed so much of his survival to things his father had taught him. Really great read.
I've started "The Accidental Billionaire" by Ben Mezrieh - the Harvard hacking story which lead to Zuckerberg's creation of Facebook. So far - so good!
After that, I'm back to some good old romance!!
Christy - I must remind you that patience is not one of my virtues - and this teasing is not helping!!! Can't wait to hear the news, along with some updates on Dylan and Jamie!!
Thanks, Mary! Will share as soon as I can!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, looks like you had some fabulous reads last week. I think Robyn Carr's new book comes out today too. Is that the last one in the series? And oh my, doesn't Perfect Play have a perfect man on the cover? Whew!
Have a great week!
Hey Linda! Love Shannon McKenna's books. If you haven't already, be sure to try Behind Closed Doors (my favorite) and Standing in the Shadows. Great reads!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Anyone else notice Hope didn't comment yesterday??? Hmmm wonder who she thinks she can hide from.... lol
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to her son Jordan for an amazing job at his karate tournament!
Ok, first sorry I am late ladies...I forgot today is actually Tuesday (lol).
ReplyDeleteI have a few recommends from last week. I kept in the Virgin River series and finished Paradise Valley which is Rick's story. I loved this book, I loved everything about it (well almost, except the author sent the kid to our rival college, but I am almost willing to forgive that negligence lol)
I also read the second in Kat Martin's new series Against the Fire, this was Gabes story and it was as good as the first. Can't wait till the 3rd one is out.
Elke...thank you so much for coming by my blog and your great comments. I love to share my opinion about books (well really about anything, but I limit it to the books on that site lol).
Have a fab-tab-ulous week everyone.
Thats funny Crystal....I was typing while you were chastising me LOL...I lost a day somewhere and was just coming to blog and noticed EVERYONE had already posted I was like what the heck happened, then DUH
ReplyDeleteHey Allison, thanks so much! Will share the good news as soon as possible. I promise!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've got some awesome reads ahead of you. And so glad you enjoyed my recommendation. You mention the short wrap-up of LMR books, but have to admit, the very last sentence of Dangerous Secrets was the perfect ending--at least to me. (:
Have a great rest of the week and enjoy those new books!
Hey Kara! Sorry it's taking me so long to answer the posts this week. Dylan and Jamie are speeding toward an HEA and taking me along for the ride!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to get the Celeste Bradley series you all have been talking about. They sound wonderful. And PC's Unlawful Contact is my favorite of the I-Team books and, umm, if I'm not mistaken, aren't you a bit of a Marc fan? (:
Hope your week has been a good one!
Hey Elke! LOL I love the idea of having you guys guess and the winner gets a SWEET book. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to tell anyone they won until I can announce my news. Sorry to be so mysterious. Now when I do tell everyone you won't think it's nearly as exciting. (:
ReplyDeleteThanks for rereading NO CHANCE and LAST CHANCE! I love to hear about rereads of my books!
If you like Kat Martin and like historicals, be sure to check out her older historical romances. They are some of my favorites rereads.
Hope your week has been a good one!
Hey Ronlyn, sounds like you had a fabulous weekend with your hubby. The *swoon* made me smile. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd you got some good reads in too. I'm way behind on Monica McCarty's books. Love them and need to catch up!
Hope you're having a good week!
Hey Kris! How fun that you got to meet Marie!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your daughter! Make a Wish Foundation is an awesome organization. How wonderful that her competition benefitted them.
Hope you're having a great week!
Hey Crystal! 75 degrees today but very windy and we're getting t'storms later, so it's going to cool down.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm all for Ronlyn's hubby write a 'How to romance your woman' book! I'd buy it!
So glad your anxious for the SWEET books! Although in Dylan's case, I'm not so sure SWEET is the right word. (:
Hope you're having a fabulous week!
Anne, love that your reading is so eclectic! I need to do that more often.
ReplyDeleteHope to share more things about Dylan and Jamie soon. Saw a sneak peek of the cover they're working on and it's looking dark, sexy and oh so mysterious. Can't wait till it's finished and I can share it!
Hope you've had a great week!
Hey Hope! You can comment any time! Just because we call it Recommend Monday doesn't mean you can't recommend any day of the week or as many times as you want.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations to Jordan for another amazing accomplishment! I know you and your family are so very proud of him.
Hope you've had a fabulous week yourself!
