Recommend Monday!

Good Monday Everyone!

Did you have a wonderful weekend? Do anything fun and exciting? Read anything fabulous? If so, this is the place to be. Share with us!

Last week was a good one for me. Finally got a good grasp on my new characters, managing to finish a synopsis and a chapter. I know I've been teasing you all with this but until details are ironed out, I can't tell you very much about it. However, I can share that though it is quite different from the Last Chance Rescue series, the books are definitely romantic suspense involving strong, resilient characters, evil, devious villains and sigh-worthy heroes. In fact, I've already fallen in love with my hero! (:

Thanks to all those who have emailed me or sent me messages on Facebook and Twitter about the SWEET books. I'm thrilled to know that so many of you have enjoyed SWEET JUSTICE and SWEET REVENGE. And I'm just as thrilled that you're looking forward to SWEET REWARD. I'll be sharing an excerpt with you soon, so stay tuned for that!

Today, Mr. Reece and I are celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary! It's a gorgeous fall day here--perfect for going outside and having fun. And you know when I celebrate, I love to have a giveaway, so one of today's commenters will win a signed copy of SWEET REVENGE! I'll announce the winner tomorrow morning.

I'm in the process of reading Carla Swafford's Circle of Desire. Wow! Really enjoying it. Dark, gritty and very sexy. In fact, Carla will be here tomorrow talking about her book and why she loves writing steamy. Be sure to drop by and chat with her. She's a wonderfully warm person with a great sense of humor. Oh, and there's a giveaway, too!

Okay, I'm headed out for a day of fun and celebration. Looking forward to reading your recommendations. There have been lots of fabulous releases over the last few weeks and several tomorrow, so there's definitely a bookstore visit in my future!

Hope everyone has a marvelous Monday. And see you back here tomorrow for a visit with Carla Swafford!

  1. Congrats and happy anniversary!!!

I finished reading Elizabeth Hoyt's SCANDALOUS DESIRES and just *died* reading it. I've been waiting all year for this book and it was worth the wait. It had everything an Elizabeth Hoyt book should have: a brooding hero, a spunky heroine, gasp worthy plot twists, heart pounding action, and an on going mystery that had me guessing at every turn. I may have immersed myself a little too much. :)

  2. Happy Anniversary, Christy!

My recommend for last week is Under Fire by Rita Henuber. A really fun, good book!

This past weekend was busy as always. Between dance and soccer, there was a trip to Target to get some new Halloween decorations, helping friends prep their new house for today's move, and a trip to Cox Farms...games, fun, food galore. Yesterday was spent working on my daughter's project on peacocks. If you need to know anything about peacocks....I'm definitely your girl!!!

  3. WOW!! Happy Anniversary, Christy!! I hope you both have a wonderful day!

I haven't had time to read much in the last two weeks so the only book I read was yours actually, Sweet Revenge. Holy smokes was it great! I was on pins and needles while reading certain parts and actually a little frightened! I tried to make it last as long as possible...I don't want your series to end. :)

  4. Happy Anniversary Christy!

I second Kris's recommendation of Under Fire...lots of action and a kickass herione! I hope there's more to come.

I had a three day weekend so I had lots of time for reading. I read and really enjoyed a few books this weekend...Monica McCarty's THE VIPER and Jeannette Murray's THE GAME OF LOVE.

    Have a good week everyone!

  6. Christy,
Sounds like you know how to start the week off right. I, on the other hand, spent the morning at the dr, and left with a sling that is totally interfering with my ability to hold a book and a Sonic drink at the same time. ;-)
I finished Carla's book this weekend, and can honestly say it is unlike anything I've read before. Good grief! You authors and your crazy, scary, demented villains! LOL!
I also just finished Cynthia Justlin's Her Own Best Enemy, and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading her other books.
Right now, I'm reading Sandra Brown's Lethal and Only Fear by Anne Marie Becker. So far, they are on target to be recommends next week.
Hope your entire week is fabulous, and I'm thrilled you are enjoying your new characters. Evil, devious villain and you've fallen in love with the hero? Sounds like things are right on track. :-)

  11. Happy Anniversary Christy & Mr. Reece :)

I read a REALLY great book by a new author last week...Under Fire by Rita Henuber. Sooooo good. I really liked it and can't wait for more.

I also read Karen Rose's, Don't Tell. Again, soooo good. I am actually happy I found this series late, cause now I have so many good ones to come.

    Have a great week everyone.

  13. Happy Anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. Reece! Hope you both enjoy a wonderful celebration.

Wow! I think Rita Henuber's "Under Fire" has captured a lot of attention this week. I was amazed at how much I really enjoyed reading it. A wild ride with some very "kick-ass" characters. I definitely want more!

Also, read the historical book I've anxiously been awaiting. Elizabeth Hoyt's SCANDALOUS DESIRES was everything and more than I anticipated and desired from Mickey and Silence's story. It was truly a well-written, enchanting, and captivating story. Never before has my heart been stolen by a pirate until Mickey O'Connor!

Hope everyone enjoys a great week!

  15. Hi all,
Christy, happy anniversary for you and Mr.Reece.As I deal with divorces almost every day I love to hear about so long lasting marriages - all the best for the next 24 years with your hubby.
Great to hear your new book is romantic suspenceas well - getting more curios every time you mention it.

Last week I was in a "Marie Force" reading frenzy. I read Fatal Justice, Love at first flight and the three Gansett Island books and loved every one of them. I am so glad to finally own a kindle ( I am not sure what took me so long to get one), but it is very dangerous because the next great book is just one click away- I need to work on my selfdiscipline, lol.

I think tomorrow is the release date of Jami Aldens Hide from Evil.I can´t wait to read it - the first one "Beg for Mercy"- was - next to the Sweet books of course - one of the best books I read this year.

    Have a great week everyone!

  16. Happy Anniversary Christy!! 24 years, wow! Congrats!!

This weekend was good. Spent it with family, bought clothes for the girls who are going to rome with my husband Saturday and Sunday celebrated my eldest's 9th birthday. And most of all - got back into reading mode finally!!

Saturday went ot the post and picked up three treasures :). Never Love a Highlander by Maya Banks, The Viper by Monica McCarty and Scandalous Desires. All books I had preordered ages ago (i own a kindle but pre-order books at fantastic prices so the must buy authors I usually buy in paperbacks at good prices.

Started with Never Love a Highlander and loved it! I really hope Maya Banks writes more Scts books real soon. This afternoon started Scandalous Desires and it seems extremely promising.

I read a couple of goodies last week: Wild Man Creek and Harvest Moon by Robyn Carr, Bad boys do By Victoris Dahl, Only His by Susan Mallery, and Tall, Dark and deadly by Lorie O'Clare. I really enjoyed all of them.

  19. Happy Anniversary!
The weather here in Tennessee continues to give us those nice Fall temperatures and the leaves are popping out in those vibrant colors we all like to see this time of the year. Saturday, we were at Ole Miss watching the Rebels play the Hogs. My husband and his family are huge Razorback fans. Yes, we are a house divided as I am a Gator fan...lol. After getting back home yesterday afternoon I began reading "First You Run," by Roxanne St. Clare AND "Be With Me," by Maya Banks. I recommend both books if you haven't already read them. :)

  20. I would recommend "Sweet Revenge". Loved it.
    Happy Aniversary!

  21. Hi all...

This week I actually have a suggestion...Bonnie by Iris Johansen. It took me a day to read that book and it was excellent. Very satisfied that we got the answer to what happened to Eve Duncan's daughter who she has been searching for all so long in all of Johansen books. I can't wait to see what she does next.

Happy reading all and have a safe week.

  22. I've been late a lot lately! I've not been getting a lot of reading done lately. We moved again and packing and all that goes along with that has been hogging my time. I'm looking forward to getting everything settled and diving back into my habit. In the mist of all the chaos I did manage to read The Viper by Monica McCarty. I've been looking forward to this book coming out for months! I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend the whole series.
Happy Anniversary Christy!! Hope you and hubby found something amazing to do!

  24. Hi Everyone! Yesterday my SWEETheart and I had a fabulous day out together. Nothing huge, just movie and dinner but it was fun just spending the day together and laughing. We don't make enough time for that and we definitely should.

Hi Kati R.! Thanks for the good wishes! Also, thanks for the recommends. I've seen Scandalous Desires recommended several places and it sounds absolutely fabulous. Am definitely going to get this one. Sounds like it has all the elements I love in romance.

Hey Kris! So glad to hear you enjoyed Rita Henuber's Under Fire. I'm definitely going to get this one, too. I met Rita a couple of years ago at an RWA conference. She's a lovely and warm person and I'm thrilled for her success. LOL After reading your post, I'm trying to figure out how I can get peacocks into my new series. It's good to know someone who's well-versed in them. (:

  25. Hey Taryn! Thanks so much for your good wishes. And I'm so happy you enjoyed SWEET REVENGE. LOL I don't want the series to end either--maybe that's why it took so long to write this book. (: I so appreciate your kind words.

Hi Alison! Thank you! And wow, great recommendations. I love to see so many books devoured in such a short time. Just makes me smile. (: I have Rita's book on my TB downloaded list and Monica's on my to buy list. I've not heard of Jeannette Murray's The Game of Love. Will jump over to Amazon and check it out!

  26. Hi Barbara! Thanks so much. Great to see you back here. I'm so glad you enjoyed the first two SWEET books! Oh, I love Marie Force's books, too and was thrilled to see that she just released a book yesterday that she called the book of her heart. I'm so happy for her well-deserved success.

Hey Kara! Yikes, so sorry your arm in in a sling. Being able to hold a Sonic drink and a book is important; I hope your arm gets 100% soon! LOL Yes, authors can come up with sick, twisted deviants, can't we? Thanks for the recommends. I've been eyeing Sandra Brown's Lethal and wondering if I should just bite the bullet. I do love her writing.

  27. Hi Na! Thanks so much. And thanks for the recommend. I love a romance when the chemistry between the hero and heroine is immediately there and sizzles. (:

Hi Gail! I'm looking forward to reading both of these books since they're by two of my favorite authors. And thanks so much for your good wishes!

Hi Patty! Thank you! And thanks for rereading my books! I love knowing about rereads! I'm so very sorry for your losses. Sending warm cyber hugs your way!

  28. Hi Mary! Thanks so much. Shiloh Walker's new series looks so good!

Hey Hope! Thank you! Good to see another recommend for Rita Heubner. And I'm so glad you discovered Karen Rose, too. Your comment makes me think of a blog post I'm going to do soon. (You'll know it when you see it.) (:

Hi P&RS Reviews! Thanks so much. We definitely had a good day. And thanks so much for the recommends. I've never read John Sandford before. Definitely will check him out.

Hi Anne! Thank so much. Mr. Reece and I had a very good day. (: You know, I think it was your post in GoodReads that got me excited about reading Elizabeth Hoyt's Scandalous Desires. Can't wait to get started on this one. I adore pirate stories!

  29. Hi Jane! Thank you. I need to take a look at Freethy's Some Kind of Wonderful. Any book that garners a reread has got to be a keeper. (:

Hey Elke! Thank you. And wow, you have a very tough job. Staying married to my hubby (though we've had our ups and downs) has been one of the easiest thing I've ever done. There's no doubt in my mind that we were meant to be together forever. (: Congrats on getting an E-reader. LOL That one click away buy button is so very dangerous! I'm looking forward to reading Jami Alden's Hide From Evil, too. I really enjoyed Beg for Mercy. (Talk about some twisted villains!) And thanks for listing the SWEET books as some of your favorites for the year!

  30. Hi Luci! Thanks so much! And thanks for the recommends. Don't you just love it when a box of books arrives at your doorstep? It's like Christmas and my birthday all wrapped together!

Hi KC! Thanks so much. And wow, thanks for all the great recommends! Victoria Dahl is going to be the luncheon speaker at the Southern Magic Readers Luncheon here in Birmingham on November 5. I can't wait to hear her speak. I've heard she's wonderful. Her sense of humor definitely comes through in her books.

Hi Craft-n-Corner! (Michelle) Thank you! Oh, Tennessee has got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth in the fall. One of the reasons Hubby and I got married in October was because of the beautiful colors. We were married in Tennessee. LOL on a house divided. We're like that too. I'm a Bama Crimson Tide fan and my hubby is Tennessee Volunteers all the way. Last Saturday was an interesting one in our house. The first half, hubby was looking extremely happy and I was very nervous. In the second half, we understandably watched the game in separate rooms and didn't talk for a few hours after it was over. (: Thanks so much for the recommends!

  31. Hi Tammie! Thanks for the congrats! And thanks so much for recommending SWEET REVENGE. So happy you enjoyed it!

Hey Sarah! Thanks for the recommend. So does Bonnie end this series or will there be more Eve Duncan books? I confess I'm very far behind in this series, but really loved the ones I read.

Hi Crystal! You're a moving hero! And you sound so calm about it. Every time I move, I'm a nervous wreck! Hubby and I went to see a movie yesterday. LOL doesn't sounds terribly exciting, I know, but we enjoyed ourselves. We don't do things like that often enough. We saw Dream House, which wasn't what I thought it would be but turned out to be a very good movie all the same. And yes, of course, I cried. Oh, and it was so very cool to have the entire theater to ourselves. Didn't have to whisper or anything!

  32. Hi Heather! Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm thrilled that you've enjoyed the LCR series. I too love getting updates on some of the former characters. You'll hear about a few in SWEET REWARD, too!

I wish I could keep the series going but it's not to be. Thank you for wanting more LCR books, though. Knowing people would love to read more always makes me smile. (:
