Hope you had a good weekend and hope you have some great recommendations for us today. With Thanksgiving coming up later this week, in between naps and football, there's got to be some time for a good book. Right?
It's a busy week here in the Reece household. We're getting both fur-kids ready to visit their grandmother, so that means baths, which they hate. However, it's got to be done. Then the food prep begins. I'm taking turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, corn casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy and a cobbler. Told my mom I'm bringing all this to keep her from having to do so much. Then she tells me all the stuff she's still going to cook. LOL However, with over 20 relatives and friends coming, we'll probably need it all.
Thanksgiving is one of my very favorite holidays. There're no expectations to do anything other than cook, eat and spend time with loved ones. When my family gets together, it's loud, full of laughter and there's always a football game, sometimes two, going on in the background. Can't wait!
What about you? Any big plans for this week? I know not all of you celebrate Thanksgiving, so tell us what else is going on. Any fun plans for the week or next weekend?
Thanks again for those who participated in the SWEET JUSTICE and SWEET REVENGE chat. Lots of fun! And everyone who commented will get a signed copy of SWEET REWARD. Yay! If you didn't get to join in, don't worry. I'll have another chat sometime in January. And since it's the last of LCR, we might make it extra SWEET and chat about all the books! Stay tuned.
Last week, in between writing, editing a book I may self-publish and a couple of doctor's appointments, I did read a very good book! I think Ann, on GoodReads, recommended it and I'm so glad she did. The book is Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley. Has anyone read it? It's a wonderful contemporary romance with some of my favorite themes--tortured hero, feisty heroine, sexy, romantic and full of angst. Loved. It!
Forgot to mention a fun blog you guys will love. It's written by a former Border's employee and she knows her romance! Hope you'll check it out! http://bitchcanwriteabook.blogspot.com
Though I try hard everyday to remember and be thankful for all my blessings, the week of Thanksgiving always seems to highlight those blessings even more. So I want to take this opportunity to thank you, my readers. Writing is a passion for me and being a published author a dream come true, but it's never easy. There are often many more disappointments and hurts than there are triumphs and happiness. However, you, my readers, are the greatest happiness in my career. Thank you for buying and reading my books, telling others about my books, sending emails, comments and messages. You brighten up my writing life and I thank you most sincerely.
And, because I love you, I'm offering 5 copies of SWEET REVENGE to the first five people who comment with: "I WANT SWEET REVENGE!" I know many of you already have your copy, so feel free to tell others to come by and comment!
Okay, that's it for me. Gotta go bathe a SWEET but stinky Maltese and then do a bit of writing!
Wishing you all a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving week! And don't forget to tell us what great books you read last week!
I want Sweet Revenge! :) Right now, I am reading The Next Always by Nora Roberts! It is the first book in her newest trilogy! It is really good and I haven't wanted to put it down! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Jessica! Congrats! Send your mailing address to Christy@christyreece.com and I'll try to get the book mailed to you this week.
ReplyDeleteThe Next Always sounds like another wonderful Nora read. Did you read the article about her in The Guardian? Will post the link. So very interesting!
Here's the article on Nora Roberts. Loved reading about her and her writing process!

I want sweet revenge.
ReplyDeleteThat was a really good article on her! I love how the town of Boonsboro (the setting in The Next Always) is actually real and she has connections with all of the places from the story! So neat! :)

ReplyDeleteYay! My sister Christina was quick enough. I told her she had to win this book it is may absolute favorite!!
ReplyDeleteChristy,
ReplyDeleteI so appreciate you being grateful for your readers, but I cannot convey how grateful I am for you and all my other fave authors for your blood, sweat, and tears in creating such romance masterpieces that I cannot live without!!! Yes, I call them masterpieces because the books I am fortunate enough to get to read really do mean alot to me. I don't watch much TV and I don't have alot of hobbies. I also don't have alot of free time, so when I do, I want it to be well used. Being able to read your books is simply some of the best times I ever have!!!! It may sound cheesy, but I really mean it!
Last week I read Hide from Evil by Jami Alden. I highly recommend this book and the one that came before it, Beg for Mercy. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
Hi Christina! Congrats! Send your mailing address to christy@christyreece.com.
ReplyDelete"I WANT SWEET REVENGE!"
ReplyDeleteJessica, that is cool, isn't it? I would love to visit there someday.
ReplyDeleteYay, Crystal! I'm thrilled to send your sister one of my books! And thank you for saying SWEET REVENGE is your favorite. I so love that you loved this book that I love too. LOL Too much love?
ReplyDeleteOh now, Kris, you went and made me cry! Thank you for your kindness and your SWEET words. However, without readers like you and others, I'd just be dealing with all these characters in my head alone and having no one to share them with.
ReplyDeleteI almost started Hide From Evil yesterday and got sidetracked. But that is one up next. Can't wait!
Hi Barbara! Congrats! You got it! Email your mailing address to christy@christyreece.com.
ReplyDeleteSo anyway... after my excitement of getting my sister on here...
ReplyDeleteI did not have a very productive reading week. The two books I did read were just okay not something I would say rush out and buy asap. So I am hoping this week I will have better success.
I still am not sure what I am doing this Thanksgiving. I hope everyone who celebrates has a fabulous time. I am very thankful for my family and friends I have some great ones! Have a great week everyone!
My friend Marci is trying to win, but blogger is giving her fits!!
ReplyDeleteI read Good Girls Don't by victoria Dahl and Too Wilde to Tame by Janelle Dennison last week. Loved them both!
Hope you have a great thanksgiving!!
I WANT SWEET REVENGE! Is it too late?
ReplyDeleteI want Sweet Revenge! Been absent from here a bit. Work is keeping me beyond busy.
ReplyDeleteReading my cookbooks to prep for this weeks cooking.
Have a good week all!
Hey Anonymous! You won! Congrats! Send your name and mailing address to christy@christyreece.com.
ReplyDeleteHey Tara, congrats! You got the last copy. Congrats! I think I have your mailing address. (:
ReplyDeleteHey Crystal, hate it when that happens. Hope you find some good recommendations here today.
ReplyDeleteAnd whatever you decide to do for Thanksgiving, hope it's wonderful.
Hey Shelly, did she get in? Wasn't sure who anonymous is. Marcie maybe?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommend. I remember reading Too Wilde to Tame a few years back and really enjoyed it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
This is Anonymous or also known as Amanda. This great friend of mine Taryn recommended me to your books. Thanks for picking me!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL Hey Amanda! So glad you got in and won. Hope you enjoy SWEET REVENGE!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Taryn, for sending Amanda over!
Hi Christy - nope she gave up after getting kicked out a couple of times. I'd let her borrow my copy, but it's autographed, so that ain't happenin'!! :O) I should get it for her for christmas! what a brilliant idea!! I am wanting to find a RS book where instead of the hero taking a bullet (or knife) meant for the heroine, she takes one meant for the hero... know any like that? I know, I'm sick. I want to see the hero at the bedside begging her not to leave him in stead of the other way around. :o)
ReplyDeleteHey Tara, I don't have your address after all. Can you send it to me at christy@christyreece.com. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteShelly, do you read historicals? If so, you MUST read Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught. You won't be disappointed. I promise!
ReplyDeleteSorry Marcie had trouble with blogger. It can be such a booger sometimes.
I do occasionally read historicals - that one isnt on kindle, so I'll look for it at the UBS...thanks for the tip!!
ReplyDeleteShelly, just noticed you said romantic suspense. Something Wonderful isn't exactly romantic suspense but it does have a bit of a mystery/suspense element to it. I really really love this book!
ReplyDeleteShelly read ANYTHING you can get your hands on by Judith McNaught!!
ReplyDeleteI guess it doesn't have to be RS - I just want to read something where the guy is the one pleading instead of the gal...haha
ReplyDeleteI haven't read anything by J McNaught, looks like I have another author to investigate!! I get such good ideas from ya'll!
Shelly,
ReplyDeleteI agree with not parting (even temporarily!!) with my signed LCR books!!! Not happening!!
I also agree with Crystal...I really enjoy Judith McNaught's books.
What's the "steaminess factor" of J McNaught? I tend to like them HOT!
ReplyDeleteShelly, McNaught writes beautiful love scenes. They can be quite steamy but are so romantic. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally agree with Crystal and Kris. Anything by Judith McNaught is awesome!
I'm convinced! Too bad my UBS is closed on mondays - but I will check for some inexpensive kindle books until I can get there! Thanks for the recommends!!
ReplyDeleteHow odd - only one of her books is available on kindle.... looks like a UBS trip is needed!!
ReplyDeleteOh boy! Just WHO got Christy and Crystal going on Judith McNaught again? LOL!
ReplyDeleteBecause of the Razorbacks big win, followed by so many upsets in the top ten, my weekend was filled with watching games, highlights, and commentaries, plus listening to my three guys predict what would happen if A,B, or C happens. OK, that's what it looked like I was doing. In truth, after our game, I had an ear to the tv and both eyes firmly on a book! (Just don't tell the boys). ;-)Later this week is looking very much the same for me, only along with the football, we'll have family and food around as well. Yay for both of those!
I read Don't Let it Show by Tess St. John last week and really liked it. Right now, I'm reading SAGE CREEK, STAY AT HOME,and CHASING FIRE. So far, so good!
Christy, your readers are so thankful for you, both as a writer of fabulous books and as a person. You are so SWEET and funny. Um, I've got a couple of pictures to prove just how funny you are? No? Well, if you change your mind...
Hi Christy,hi all
ReplyDeleteChristy wow thats a lot of food to prepare. I wish you and all the fellow r.p´s the very best Thanksgiving holidays - meeting with family and friends is fabulous.Sadly we don´t celebrate Thanksgiving in Germany as you do in the U.S .
Last week I reread Jill Shalvis `"the Sweetest Thing" to get reaquainted with the characters as " Head over Heals" will be released this week" - I am looking forward to it.
And I started with a historical detective story set in the Victorian era in London - " "Silent in the Grave" by Deanna Rayburn. I am halfway through it and so far I really enjoy reading it. There are several more books with Lady Julia Grey and Nicholas Brisbane and I think I will continue with this series.
Has anyone read those books ?
Thats it from me this week. Have a great week and a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!
Shelly you MUST read Once and Always!! My absolute favorite ALL TIME Judith McNaught book. I love them all, but this one is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteKara I don't know what your talking about I rarely get on a Judith McNaught kick. I never badger anyone into reading her books or anything...
Shelly HURRY UP!! I mean..... LOL
Crystal, Crystal, Crystal...
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Christy, if you could be so kind as to send Dylan in a boat my way, I'd greatly appreciate it. For one thing, we are getting flooded here today (interstate and highway leading into town currently closed), and for another, it's Dylan! I'd really, REALLY appreciate it. :-)
Shelly, I know, it's crazy that her books aren't ebooks yet. Even though I have all of her books, I'd still get them on Kindle if I could. (:
ReplyDeleteKara, congrats to the Hogs! LOL I could just imagine the conversations going on at your house.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your SWEET words, but if you show any of those pictures, I'll have to have a long, stern chat with you. (: I swear, there's not one of them where my mouth was closed. I was either laughing or talking!
Hey Elke, you should totally adopt the Thanksgiving holiday just because it's so much fun. (:
ReplyDeleteI've not read Deanna Rayburn. I did meet her at a signing once. She's a lovely person. For some reason, I'm thinking that Anne might reads her books. Maybe if she jumps on later, she can tell us.
Have a great week!
I have had a really slow reading week. Whick is odd for me. Usually I read a few books a week. But I just have two to recommend this time. Highlander Untamed and The Chief, bith by Monica McCarty. So if anyone has some good historicals that they just LOVED, let me know!
ReplyDeleteChristy, I agree with you Thanksgiving is also my favorite. Love all the yummy food. And being with the family.
Hey KC. Thanks for the recommend. I adore Monica McCarty's books!
ReplyDeleteNot my Thanksgiving but I'm thankful for all the great people I've met through the love of books.
ReplyDeleteIncluding a pretty special SWEET
author;)
Loved see You In My Dreams by Jess Dee. She's one of my fave 'outside the box authors.
Late to the party today! A sad, rainy and cold day in Oklahoma with the flags at half-staff in honor and remembrance of Oklahoma State University women's basketball coach and his assistant, along with the two alumni pilots of the plane that went down in Arkansas on Friday, killing all four. Just a terrible tragedy and one that has me a bit blue and down.
ReplyDeleteElke, I have read Deanna Raybourn's Julia Grey Series. I loved it. Nicholas Brisbane makes a delicious PI. The detail, the character and relationship building as each book is introduced makes this a great series. I know that some prefer more sizzling romantic scenes but for me (and I usually do too!), it did not lessen the enjoyment of this series.
This past week I've read a lot of new-to-me authors and their debut books or novellas. Tori Scott's SATISFACTION series included two short novella-type books, SATISFACTION GUARANTEED and PERFECTLY SATISFIED were short, sweet and had some sizzle. Enjoyable reading. The one that took its toll on me was COME BACK TO ME by Melissa Foster. Wonderful characters, an unexpected wrap up that caught me totally off guard. Beautifully written tear jerker. And one that I dearly loved the characters and storyline by Abigail Strohm called CROSS MY HEART. Loved the cardiac doc who meets up with a rock-n-roll singer while his teenage daughter adds such depth to the storyline. It's romance at its best, tender storyline with some really great characters.
Hey Tara! Good to see you popping in today. Hope you get a nice break from work during the holidays to spend with your loved ones!
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday weekend. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Kara, Dylan is headed your way. As you'll remember, he's very good with water. (:
ReplyDeleteHope it dries up for you guys soon. I think we've got it coming our way tomorrow.
Hey Mary, thank you! (:
ReplyDeleteOh, I love an 'out of the box' kind of book. Will have to look up Jess Dee.
I was in a such a rush this morning I forgot to recommend! LOL I just finished the FATAL series by Marie Force and LOVED every word of it!
ReplyDeleteHey Anne. That was so incredibly sad about the OK State coaches. And I didn't realize that you guys had a similar tragedy years before. I'm sure the entire state is still in shock. My heart goes out to their families and friends.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've had some luck with the good reads lately. I don't think I've heard of any of these books, but the way you describe them makes me want to investigate them all. Thanks for the recommends!
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
Hey Barbara! Glad you came back. And it's never too late to recommend a Marie Force book. We love her over here. (:
ReplyDeleteHey Christy and friends! I was so busy yesterday that I didn't get a chance to write my recommends. I read two books by Leslie Kelly last week. They go to her Santori stories about Italian brothers. One was called Overexposed and the other was Don't Open Till Christmas. They were both sweet and spicy and let's just say I'll never look at a cannoli the same. :) I also started a Robyn Carr book and another book by Even Berlin over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteChristy, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your mom. My mom is back home in Florida but I'll be driving to see her parents in Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving. Love the blog you posted by a former Borders employee.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!!
LOL Taryn, now you've got me wanting to read that book if only to find out what happens with the cannoli! I've read Leslie Kelley books and they are great!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving and safe travels to Pennsylvania!
