Good Monday Everyone!
Hope you had a good weekend and you're all geared up to have a fabulous week. Can't wait to hear about all the great books you read last week. I'm still in the midst of judging Rita contest books and am thoroughly enjoying myself. Lots of great romances were published in 2011!
Writing was a little stilted last week as my characters and I got together for a brief conference and couldn't agree on anything. Now however, due to an intervention by a new character, we are chugging along much better. I think, since this is a new series and so different from the LCR plot-lines, my muse and I were struggling with the new cast of characters and different motivations. With the introduction of this new character, we're both feeling better about our direction.
Also, I got a bit of disappointing news last week. The first two books in this new series won't be released until next year. Tentative dates are May and October 2013. In one way, that's not bad news since I'll have more time to write but not having a 2012 release is going to feel so odd. However, I do plan to continue editing some older manuscripts for self-publishing. So even if there aren't any new paperbacks from me, there will be some ebooks I hope you'll look forward to reading. Stay tuned for more on that!
My television interview airs today at 11:30 and I'm quite anxious about it. Seeing myself on camera is not one of my favorite things. (So glad my dream wasn't to be an actor!) I'll come on a little later and post the link if you want to take a look.
Updated:
Okay, just aired. Here's the link: http://www2.alabamas13.com/lifestyles/2012/feb/13/local-romance-novelist-36462-vi-118970/
This week's plans include lots of writing and reading, which to me, is about as perfect of a week as one could get. (:
In celebration of Valentines Day and because I love you guys so much, everyone who recommends a book here today will be entered in a drawing for a box of assorted romance books, including two Last Chance Rescue books of your choice, and a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card. I'll announce the winner tomorrow morning. Be sure to leave your email address in your comment so I can get in touch with you.
Okay, that's it for me. I'm headed to my fictional little southern town where it's summertime and the fragrance of honeysuckle is wafting through the air. It should be the perfect atmosphere to fall in love but there's a murderer afoot!
Have a great day everyone. Now, tell us what great books you read last week!

Hi Christy! I read a new to me author last week - Kristen Ashley - not really sure if I liked it or not. I also read Eternal Kiss by Laura Wright, which I really liked, as well as 2 Donna Grant books. Am anxious to see what you self publish this year, as I'm positive I will love it! Too bad we have to wait until 2013 for your new series!!
ReplyDeleteHi Christy! I love your books! I just finished reading Dirty by Debra Webb and loved it. It was hysterical, suspenseful and fast-moving. Email address: mickicakes73@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteHey Shelly! Great recommends! The manuscripts I'm working on are some of my first books and need lots of work to get them into shape. However, I still love the stories and hopefully you guys will too. So glad you're anxious to read them. (:
ReplyDeleteHey Michele! Thank you! I'm thrilled you love my books! Oh, I love Debra Webb! I have Dirty on my Kindle but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Sounds like it's going to be fun!
ReplyDeleteWell I am currently reading Jill Shalvis' Animal Attraction. Last week I read Sherryl Woods last book in her Charleston Serious.....Waking up in Charelston....pretty good. Can't wait to get my hands on a new series from ya.

Hi Christy!
ReplyDeleteA year without Christy books is like a year without sunshine!!!! So I'm really excited you'll be doing some self-pub so we won't be bereft without your books! :-)
I'm just about done with Kristen Ashley's Heaven and Hell, on loan from Alison Peterson. I'm really enjoying the story, but the quirky writing style takes some getting used to.
I also read the Sentinal Wars novella by Shannon K. Butcher. She's one of the few paranormals that I can't live without! Love that series and can't wait for the next installment next month!
I recomment "Stud" by Cheryl Brooks. It is part of her series "The Cat Star Chronibles". Its a SciFy romance and pretty HOT.

Read a book this week by Lacy S Kinsley called Monogamy Doesn't Come Cheap. It was a good read, the to lead characters were believable and the conspiracy was a surprise. One part reminded me of a scene from a James Bond movie. That was pretty awesome! I recommend this one. Another plus it was only .99 cents on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteAnother was Because of You....it is a Loveswept Contemporary Military. I cried at parts and cheered on the hero's in this one. It dealt with wounded warriors those serving our country and those who have battled and survived cancer. The authors in sight was pretty awesome. I highly recommend this book. It looks like this might be the first book of a series. I have not checked it out.
Had an awesome week and week end. Wishing everyone a great week!!!
Oh forgot the book "Because of You" was written by Jessica Scott.
ReplyDeleteI will have to go with Emily March's Lover's Leap but I have been hooked on this series. Its an awesome series. Also love Kaki Warners books if you want a good western. Mostly been reading free Kindle books lately.

Hi Christy! I'm excited about your self-pubs, I'm sure I will love them!
ReplyDeleteThis past week I read the 2nd book in Shiloh Walker's Ash Trilogy IF YOU SEE HER, and really enjoyed it. Still no idea who the killer is, now I have to wait until 2/28 to find out.
I'm still continuing my Kristen Ashley lovefest...I read PLAY IT SAFE a stand alone novel and THE GAMBLE from her Colorado Mountain series and loved them.
Happy early Valentines Day everyone!
Hi Christy, hi everyone!
ReplyDeleteAwesome interview Christy - I especially loved the part about the love letters . Some inspiration for Valentines Day!
Bad news about the timetable for your new series, but I keep my fingers crossed for your self publishing plans - it will help to get your readers through an otherwise Christy Reece free 2012.
I discovered a new to me author:Lena Diaz.
Her book "He kills me, he kills me not" is a great romantic suspense novel and I higly recommend it.
Next on my list is "Deadly Games"by Jaycee Clark - I have to thank Ronlyn and Hope for that .They gave me the information that the book is now available on Kindle (I checked some weeks ago and it wasn´t and I didn´t expect that would change so qickly ).
Have a nice week everyone!
Hi Ms.Reece,
ReplyDeleteI wish I had some new book to recommend but I am in a "readers lull" I finished my last book and don't know what to read next:( Do you have any suggestions on what to read next? I hate the feeling of being a "lost reader"
I'm discovering so many great books lately. I recently read my first Susan Elizabeth Phillips's book and fell for it. I would recommend Natural Born Charmer. It's such a fun story.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week everyone!

Hi Christy. I read Nicole Jordan's Princess Charming and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen! Thanks for the recommends. I have Animal Attraction but haven't read it yet. I've heard so many wonderful things about this book. And thank you, I'm thrilled you're looking forward to my new series!
ReplyDeleteHey Kris! Aw, you're so SWEET! Glad you're looking forward to my self-published books. Will be a new venture for me but I'm very excited to get these books that I love into readers' hands!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommends. I haven't read Butcher's paranormals but I do enjoy her romantic suspense books.
Hi Betty! I don't believe I've read any Cheryl Brooks books. Thanks so much for the recommend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday all....I am pretty bummed about the release dates Christy, but at least you gave us something to look forward to with your self pubs.
ReplyDeleteI read an older book by Kathryn Shay called Betrayed. I really liked the story line, I was put off but so many typos, but the story was awesome.
I also finished Marie Force's Fatal Flaw. Another good addition to the Fatal series.
I am in the process of Kristen Ashley's Mystery Man, thanks to Alison. And I am loving it.
Elke, glad to have been able to help you out. That was my favorite of the series, I hope you like it as much as I did.
Loved the interview Christy. Have a great week everyone.
Christy- can't wait for more little tid-bits on the new series it sounds awesome, bummer that it isn't going to be out until next year.
ReplyDeleteSo last week I read Maid for love and Fool for love, both great. Also Undeniably Yours also great. Taking Chase bt Lauren Dane, and Game for love.
Awesome Interview. I just finished Dire Warning by Stephanie Tyler. I know its just a novella but this chick can't wait for the first book in the series. I am loving the werewolves. HOT!! Now I am going to read Born of Ashes. Nothing says Valentines is around the corner to this chick like a good ole paranormal romance. PS May 2013 is just to far away !!!

Last Man Standing by Cindy Gerard and The Spy Who Left Me by Gina Robinson (I have no Christy Reece books left to read! Read them all!)
ReplyDeleteHi Christy! Loved watching your interview this morning! Always enjoy a conversation about LCR! "Self-published" books by you is like music to my ears!! I'm sad to hear it will be a year before the new series is released but I'll certainly be ready!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished a new-to-me-author's debut book. Tiffany Snow's "NO TURNING BACK" is a romantic suspense with the hint of a romantic triangle. The characters are yummy. Four more books are planned and if they are like the first, I'll be reading them all.
Just started another debut book, RIDE WITH ME by Ruthie Knox. A bit of a sports romance with two cyclists who are riding the TransAm route. Two interesting characters who are pushing each other's buttons and the chemistry is building.
Happy ♥ Day to everyone!
It will definitely be weird not to have a release from you for the whole year, but I know it'll be worth the wait. I was reading Jillian Hunter's "The Duchess Diaries." I must go back and read the first two books in the series. Happy Valentine's Day.

New character, huh? Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteWe almost had a snow day today. And by almost, I mean my school kids and I stood with our noses pressed to the classroom window, looking at the big, pretty snowflakes. ;-)
I finished Last Man Standing by Cindy Gerard. You can never go wrong with one of her books! Also true of Marie Force's Fatal series. Fatal Flaw is great!
Can't wait for all your new stuff, Christy, Paperback, e book, self pub. However you can get it to us, I know we'll be snatching them up.
Hi Jeannie! Thanks so much for the recommend. Monogamy Doesn't Come Cheap is definitely an interesting title! And you're so right, Jessica Scott's Because of You is an awesome read!
ReplyDeleteHi Quilt Lady! Awesome recommends. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Alison. Thank you. So glad you're excited about self published books from me! Thanks for the recommends. LOL I'm saving Shiloh Walker's Ash trilogy until the last one comes out. I've seen so much chatter about how anxious readers are to know who the killer is. I'm just saving myself some anxiety. (:
ReplyDeleteHey Elke! Thanks so much for watching the interview. And thanks for your encouraging words on the self publishing.
ReplyDeleteGreat recommendations! I've not heard of Lena Diaz but will definitely check her out. Sounds really intriguing. And Jaycee Clark has been on my radar for a while. I think I may have one of her books on my Kindle I haven't read yet.
Yay for Ronlyn and Hope! I love how you guys help each other out on finding books.
Hey Gail! I hate being in a lull too. When that happens, I usually either go to a comfort read or I'll read some older Recommend Monday blogs to see what I might have missed. Hopefully you found several suggestions here that'll help you find your way again.
ReplyDeleteHey Na! Oh I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Have you read It Had To Be You, Nobody's Baby But Mine, Dream a Little Dream and Ain't She Sweet? Those are my absolute favorite SEP books!
ReplyDeleteHi CrystalGB! I've been eyeing Nicole Jordan's new book. I haven't read her in a while but used to devour her books. And the cover of this new one is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for the recommend!
ReplyDeleteHey Hope! Wow, some great recommends from you. I just purchased my first Kathryn Shay yesterday. Someone to Believe In. I saw it mentioned somewhere and it sounded great. And it was only 99 cents!
ReplyDeleteThanks for watching the interview. Hopefully it'll help sell a few books! (:
Hi KC! Thanks for your kind words. I hope I can share more soon. Each day I'm getting more and more excited about this new series. These characters are somewhat different from others I've written but they are becoming very interesting!
ReplyDeleteWow, you have some great recommends. Thanks so much!
Hi Vanilla Spider! Thanks so much for watching the interview. And thanks for the recommend. Dire Warning sounds fabulous. I haven't read a werewolf book in a long time. Definitely need to check that one out!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! Thanks for the recommends. I am very behind on Cindy Gerard's books but absolutely adore her writing. I've not read Gina Robinson but I've seen her books and thought they sounded very good. And thank you for reading all of my books. Hope I can get more out to you soon! (:
ReplyDeleteHey Oklanannie! Thanks for watching the interview. LOL I love talking LCR too. Would love to just sit down and chat about them for an hour or so. (:
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for the recommends. Two authors I've not heard about and their books sound great!
Happy V Day to you, too!
Hi Jane! Thanks for wanting more books from me and for being willing to wait!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommend. I don't think I've read Jillian Hunter. Will definitely take a gander!
Hey Kara! LOL I can just picture you and your kids pressing your nose against the window looking at the snow. We had a bit of sleet here yesterday but nothing more. Even though we've not had any winter weather, I kind of hate to see it turn cold. We have tulip trees, dogwood trees and crocus blooming everywhere. Hate to see them get frozen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommends. You're right. You can never go wrong with a Cindy Gerard or Marie Force book!
LOL and thank you so much. So happy you'll snatch up anything from me. Would love to clone you about a million times. (:
Yay, Christy! I am so happy to hear that you are going to self-pub some books!! Yippee!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Christi! I'm very excited about dipping into self publishing. This is such a fun time to be an author. Hope your writing is going well!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your great recommendations and also for your encouraging words. You guys are so very awesome and I sincerely appreciate each of you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Michele! She's the winner of a box of books, including 2 Last Chance Rescue books, and a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card! Michele, I have your email address and will contact you soon.
Hope everyone has a fabulous Valentines Day!!!
Congratulations to Michele! And HAPPY ♥ DAY to everyone!!
ReplyDeleteI am a day late again. I don't have a big list, but I did read Shadow's Stand by Sarah McCarty. It wasn't as...spicy as the the previous books but it was still a good read.
ReplyDeleteChristy I would jump for joy if you put out an ebook!! I think that would be a fabulous idea!!
