Recommend Monday

Good Morning All!

Hope you had a great weekend. The weather is lovely here, beautiful warm days and deliciously cool nights. Just right for cuddling with your honey and/or fur-kids or snuggling under a blanket with a great book.

Last week I went away to spend some alone time with Nick and Kennedy. I had to cut about 40 pages (hope to use most of them later) but the story wasn't headed in the right direction for the characters and I was stumped. Thankfully the isolation gave all three of us a chance to get it right. Now that I'm on the correct path, I'm anticipating a monumental word count from now on. Yay!

Though I did get a lot accomplished last week, I also read a phenomenal book. Pamela Clare's Striking Distance was, in my opinion, one of her best. It will definitely make my top ten list of favorites this year. I am in awe of Pamela's amazing talent!

The new cover and slightly higher price for CHANCES ARE will be coming up in the next few weeks. If you haven't had the chance to get it yet, be sure to snag it at 2.99 before it's too late!

Once I've finished NOTHING TO LOSE, I will be heading back to LCR land for RUNNING ON EMPTY, which is turning into my most emotional and exciting LCR story yet. Can't wait to get back to Noah and the gang!

In between writing binges, I'm going to be giving lots of thought to making some changes to my website, especially my blog. This may include the dissolution of Recommend Monday, either altogether or possibly moving it over to my Facebook author page. Not sure yet. Other than a few faithful (who know who you are and how much I appreciate you!) our recommends have really dwindled over the last year. Though the blog still gets lots of hits, I'm wondering if a different venue might increase the activity. Let me know your thoughts on this, here or by email.

Okay, that's it for me. Hope everyone has a fabulously productive week! And now, tell us what great books you read last week!

PS: The following is from Boney the Cat who insisted on adding her two cents worth by walking across my keyboard just now: loooooooo444

As you can see, she's a cat of few words and lets her good looks speak for her. :)

I haven't had much of a chance to read lately, as I'm neck need in NaNo, but I LOVED Striking Distance. Wasn't it great??
So glad you got a chance to get away and brainstorm with your characters. The thought of cutting 40 pages brings tears to my eyes. LOL.

    *hugs*

  2. Hey Ronlyn! LOL Can't deny that there were tears. However, I never completely delete. I have a special file for each book where I save all deletions. Going back and rereading them often helps me remember things and why I wrote them in the first place. And I almost always use some of the words I deleted, just in different places.

  4. Good morning everyone...I haven't really been in a reading grove lately. I seem to pick up a book and never finish it, so I am hoping you all have some great recommends for me today.

I did LOVE Striking Distance by Pamela Clare, I was lucky enough to get and ARC so I read it a while ago, but still worth mentioning again.

Christy, I know that you post on FB about RM being up, but sometimes I am reading from my phone, and I can't get over to the blog from my phone (pretty much because the phone hates me), I would be more apt to join RM if it was on FB, only because I can comment there easier.

  5. Hey everyone.. I haven't been doing much reading lately, but I did read Julie Ann Walker's latest Born Wild. I enjoyed it.
I agree Christy Pamela's talent is absolutely amazing! Striking Distance was so emotionally engaging. Loved it!
I think moving Recommend Monday to your FB page would be a great idea. I love RM but for what ever reason I can't post from my phone and lately I'm rarely around my computer.
I'm so glad you were able to get away and spend some one on one time with your characters. I'm excited to get any updates I can on your characters. Pulling 40 pages though would be hard. Hopefully you can put them into the story later.
Hope everyone has a great day!!

  6. Hi Sue, thanks for the recommend. I have not read Donna Kauffman. Will have to check her out. And if you enjoy sexy romance with edge of your seat suspense, you'll love Striking Distance.

  7. Hey Hope, thanks for chiming in on Recommend Monday. I get messages all the time from readers telling me they can't post from their phone. That's so frustrating and another plus in the 'Move to Facebook' column.

  8. Hey Crystal! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Recommend Monday. It is frustrating to try posting from a phone. I've tried and was successful only a couple of times.

And I'm so happy you enjoy hearing updates about my characters. Can't wait to share Kennedy and Nick's story with you and everyone! :)

  9. Not a super productive reading week for me. I did a re-read of Nora Roberts Bride Quartet series and Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren- my fav in this series so far.

    Happy Reading!!

  10. The reading slump bug must be widespread. I'm having a hard time staying with anything I pick up these days. So many of the stories seem to follow the same story trope with slight changes. Only two recommends this week -- Marie Force's MEANT FOR LOVE, #10 book in her Gansett Island series and a great addition. And as others have mentioned, Pamela Clare's STRIKING DISTANCE (along with the prequel FIRST STRIKE) is simply a must read in my opinion.

Makes no difference to me where Recommend Monday turns up, I'll find you!! Always enjoy the updates on your work-in-progress Christy, as well as all the great recommended reads.

Hope all of you find something fabulous to read this week!

  11. Hi Christy and Everyone! Glad the revisions went well , Christy.

Obviously the reading slump bug could´nt jump across the pond because I discovered a new to me author - Tiffiny Helmer -and already read for of her books. They are set in Alaska and are so well written that i felt as if I was there. Lots of twists and turns, some hot romance and a great cast of characters. The books are: "Edge", "Hooked","Shiver" and between the third and the forth is a novella "Messed up" . They can be read as stand alones but I think the 2nd to 4th should be read in order. The next one "Death Cache" come out at the end of November and I am looking forward to it.

Christy if you move R.M. to facebook I have to think about signing up there. Hope already asked me why on earth I am not there, lol.

    Have a great week Everyone!

  13. Hey Anne, thank you. So happy to know you'll follow Recommend Monday no matter where it goes. That means so much.

And yay on another great Marie Force book! She is so amazingly talented.

  14. Hey Elke! Thank you for recommending Tiffiny Helmer. I've seen a few of her books on Amazon recommends but haven't checked them out. Definitely will now. They sound right up my alley.

And yay! I do hope you'll come on to Facebook, whether I make the Recommend Monday switch to it or not. It's so easy to use and there's so much fun to be had there. Lots of great ways to keep in touch with your friends and favorite authors.

One of the reasons I hesitated to take Recommend Monday from the blog was because I know you're not on Facebook and I DO NOT want to lose touch with you. If you come over to Facebook though, that's a definite plus in the 'Switching to Facebook' column. :)
