Did you have a fabulous week of reading last week? I've heard from several of you privately who found some great reads. I'm looking forward to learning what those books are. Always eager to add to my enormous TBR stack!
As for me, no reading but I did have some interesting conversations with several of my characters. Those strong, silent types are wonderful to read about but when writing about them, the silent part can be frustrating! This week, I'm going to concentrate on writing what I've learned about them. Wish me luck!
Guess what? LAST CHANCE will be released in 15 days! Hard to believe it's almost here. Seems like forever since SECOND CHANCE was released. I can't wait to finally share McKenna and Lucas's story with you. Hope you love them as much as I do!
Stay tuned because my author copies should be coming soon. I'm looking forward to giving away several when they do!
So tell us, what fantabulous books do you want the world to know about and read?
Okay, that's it for me. I'll stop in tonight and chat but now I'm going to buckle down and write like the wind>>>>>>>>>>>>
Happy Monday!
Good Luck with your writing. We are all looking forward to hear about Dylan. Didn't really read alot of new reads. I reread JR Wards series to get ready for her new book coming out. Tried to read a few more books but couldn't get into them, which was a major disappointment since the storyline sounded Soooo good. Will have to try them at a later date incase I was in a mood for something esle.(a lesson I learned from Christy and Kara, keep the books for alittle while you might what to read them later. Right Kara :))
ReplyDeleteI'm still on my Pamela Clare glomfest. Just started SURRENDER. Her historical voice is very different from her contemporary one but not in a bad way, just takes some getting used to.
ReplyDeleteFinished UNLAWFUL CONTACT last week, liked it alot but not as much as NAKED EDGE.
As for recommends:
I have enjoyed every Sarah Mayberry book I've read to date, ANYTHING FOR YOU is my favorite so far.
Elizabeth Hoyt's, THE LEOPARD PRINCE is also a favorite.
WOO HOO! 15 days!! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading some Karen Rose, who is always thrilling with some nasty villans. ~shiver~ I can't wait for her new one to come out, but that's not until May...which I guess IS just next month.
I also picked up a book from the library which someome had recommended as being very "Suzanne Brockman-esque". Yeah, other than the fact that the heros are military or FBI it wasn't at all what I was expecting. And, I guess I just don't want to hear the heros in my romances quote scripture. :-P So, that obviously wasn't for me. LOL.
I also got together with my friend Leiha, who seems to have the inside track on everything, and she loaned me the new Sherrilyn Kenyon/Diana Love book, which is due out next month. WOO HOO! And Lisa Valdez, who I missed the first time around, so I'm going to read her first book and then go right into the new one. YAY! And since swimming lessons are starting again for the kids I might actually be able to read all of these this week.
So, now, question: What makes you guys pick up a new book/author? The last several that have been recommended to me haven't been my cup of tea at all (and I always thought I was very easy to please) so....
Hey everyone! Hope everyone is having a good Monday so far.
ReplyDeleteChristy I'm chomping at the bit for Lucas and McKenna's story!! :)
Last week I got a lot of reading done. I read Without Mercy by Lisa Jackson it was good had a nice twist at the end!
I've gotten on a Cindy Gerard kick in a major way! I read Take No Prisoners first which stinks since it was the 2nd book in the series, but I've caught up I also read Show No Mercy and Whisper no Lies. All of them were good. I am getting ready to start Feel the Heat.
Jackie P I completely understand your situation. If I am not totally into a book by the end of the first chapter it drives me nuts. I usually read it, but it usually takes me days to get it finished. Then when I'm done I feel like it was a job to get it finished. :)
Scorpio I was on a Pamela Clare kick! Now I can't wait for her to write another I-Team book! I still can't choose between Julian or Marc. I love them both how is a girl to choose??? Lol!
Ronlyn for me to pick up a new author is huge! I've gotten a lot better since Recommend Monday has come along. (Thank Goodness!!) But if I read the back of the book and it grabs me I'll try it. I stick with the military/cops/FBI ect. with the occasional cowboy books. I'm not to big on paranormal or most historical books.
Have a wonderful week everyone!
@Crystal - Picking/debating favorite heroes is the best part of reading series, isn't it? :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm a Gabe girl. Something about your first, lol. Although Marc is pretty special & Julian is, well, hot. I can't wait to see how Zach matches up.
Hello Monday and everyone!
ReplyDeleteJackie P - you may be suffering the safe effects as me! Spring has sprung and gorgeous array of colors and playtime in the park have played havoc with my reading this past week!
Christy - NOTHING - absolutely nothing - will preclude my reading LAST CHANCE the moment it hits my hands! I'm so excited that the release date for Lucas and McKenna's book is almost here! And I'm hoping those SWEET characters are treating you kindly today and giving up their secrets!
Scorpio M - Loved my Clare historical spring break readfest! Her historicals were truly amazing - loved them all! As for her newest hero, Zach, I think he might cause serious heart palpitations!!!
Ronlyn - Love Karen Rose! Have you read Linda Castillo's books? I just finished both of Lisa Valdez's books and "Patience" was way too over-the-top for me - a major disappointment. I'm always eager to try a new author especially if the rec comes by way of people I know are avid readers.
Crystal - Julian has always been the frontrunner until Gabe came into the picture. Now there's Zach who presents way way too much temptation. I think I've decided to join the "alphabet Team RJMGZ." It's just too difficult to choose just one!
Hoping everyone has a wonderful week of good books, sunshine and SWEET blessings!
Hi All
ReplyDeleteRead Sweet Temptation by Maya Banks. It's pretty out there but I love the best friend's sister premise & I did enjoy it.
Read Legal Affairs, By The Book & finishing Past Promises
which are books 5, 6 & 7 of the Jamesville series by N.J. Walters.
Bought Dead Right bu Cate Noble.
About finding new authors. It's easy here because we all seem to like the same books for the most part. I will still check out new authors & read excerpts if I can to see if the like the author's style.
LOL on Team RJMGZA - I don't want to pick either but that Marc guy keeps coming back to my head with Gabe LOL.
*adding Lisa Castillo to my list*
ReplyDeletegotta say, my list is huge thanks to Recommend Monday! :-)
Hey Christy Happy Monday
ReplyDeleteI am not quit done But Reading Lora Leigh's Lion Heart..
Everyone have a Great day!!
Wow, so many good book ideas! And I'm just going to add to it. This week I read Cowboy Trouble by Joan Kennedy, Crossroad's Cafe by Deborah Smith, Wrong Side of Dead by Jordan Dane, and Jill Shalvis's Instant Temptation. They were all good, solid reads. I'd never read anything by Smith before, but will definitely be trying some of her other books. I wouldn't recommend Wrong Side to anyone who insists on a HEA ending because this is a continuation of a story, and not everything is tied up in the end. I am in the middle of Remember Me by Laura Moore (finally got it back from my mom's) and Beneath Bone Lake by Colleen Thompson. So far, these are both great stories.
ReplyDeleteJackie, Hah, you know me well. I've definitely been known to drop a book and come back to it.
Ronlyn, I'm sooo excited about Karen Rose's new book! She is a definite auto buy for me. I usually find new authors by reading the back blurb, and on sites like Amazon that give 'if you like this book, you may also enjoy...' tips. Knowing other people who enjoy the same types of books certainly helps! :)
Crystal,
Cindy Gerard is another favorite of mine? Have you already read her bodyguard series as well. I would have probably had a mini meltdown had I read book 2 of any series first! LOL I'm very particular (ok, obsessive) about that. In fact, I started a different Colleen Thompson book but realized by the end of chapter one that it was a continuation of an earlier book, so I'm reading that one now.
Hey Oklanannie! I'm with you on reading LAST CHANCE the minute it comes out! Can't wait. I've enjoyed all the Linda Castillo books I've read as well.
As for Pamela Clare's heroes, I'd like to go on record as saying there is not a one I'd throw back. BUT...Mary G, say it with me, Team Marc all the way. :)
Hey, Ida! Long time no chat!
And finally, Christy, I'm wishing you all the luck you may need.
I read Pamela's "Naked Edge." I can't wait for her next release. Hard to believe "Last Chance" will in arrive in two weeks.
ReplyDeleteHi Ida - we've missed ya!
ReplyDeleteMary G - I've got DEAD RIGHT in my TBR stack. Hey, did another hottie slip in under the wire for (Team RJMGZA?? If so, I want the info on him!!
Kara - can't wait to hear what you think of Laura Moore's REMEMBER ME.
And I thought BENEATH BONE LAKE was frighteningly gooooood!
I am very excited for Karen Rose's SILENT SCREAM (an extra bonus is that it is a First Time In Print Mass Market Paperback - not an expensive hardback!). That twentysomething arsonist storyline is intriguing.
And, Linda Castillo's PRAY FOR SILENCE due for release on June 22, 2010 is another book at the top of my wishlist.
So many books . . . my book budget is already soooooo busted!!
Hi oklanannie Missed you guys too..
ReplyDeleteHey Crystal
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy Feel the Heat.
Cindy is amazing. In both this series & her bodygurad series the last books were my faves which just shows the quality of her work.
LOL Team Marc Kara
I want to know what you think of Remember Me too. I can't believe we have to wait till January for the next one.
Good to have you back Ida.
Sorry Anne - That A in The team is a typo.
I don't know about you guys but I'm just biding my time till Last Chance is out.
Hey Jackie! Thanks, Dylan was a bit more cooperative today, still too closed mouth though. Fortunately my heroine has plenty to say.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've put books down that didn't grab me for one reason or another and then gone back later and loved them. I'm the same way with some movies. I just think it depends upon what you're in the mood for.
Go back later and give them another CHANCE, Jackie! (:
Have a great week!
Hey Scorpio! Great to see you here again. Have to say that Unlawful Contact was my favorite, but I still haven't had the CHANCE to read Naked Edge, so could change my mind. (:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommends! Have a great week!
Hey Ronlyn! Love Karen Rose and I'm excited about Silent Scream. I'm so glad it's David's story! And I really liked Olivia in Count to Ten. I know it will be a fabulous read.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy Passion. I have to admit, though parts of it are extreme, especially at the beginning, it's still one of the SWEETest love stories I've read. I cry every time I read it.
What makes me pick up a new author? I've picked up several new ones since we started Recommend Monday. Other ways are usually word of mouth from friends or a really intriguing back cover blurb.
Have a great week, Ronlyn!
Hey Crystal! So glad you're looking forward to LAST CHANCE! Got my author copies today and will be giving some away soon. Stay tuned!
ReplyDeleteWow, you had some great luck with good reads last week. Thanks for the recommends!
Have a great week!
Hey Oklanannie! Yay, got my author copies and one of these LAST CHANCE copies is yours. Remember, you won a copy last month? Coming to you this week!
ReplyDeleteMy characters are SWEETer than they were last week but they could SWEETen up a bit more and I wouldn't mind.
Have a great week!
I need some help. I am in BAM and I pick up this new author or I think she is because it looked like her next 2 books come out this year. Her intials are DD and it is like a military Ops type book/romantic suspence. I almost picked it up to buy but decided to wait because I wasn't sure and I wanted to look her up and now I can't remember her(even though I just KNEW I would remember it)name and have tried to look her up without any luck. Darn it!
ReplyDeleteAny help would be appreciated since I don't want to drive all that way until the YES...the 27th of April when I will get Mckenna and Lucas's story in my greedy little hands. :)
Hi Jackie
ReplyDeleteIt's Dee Davis.
Funnily enough I had just looked her up on her web-site. I wanted to read an excerpt to see if I'd like it. I think I'm going for it.
ReplyDeleteHey Jackie,
ReplyDeleteI think you're talking about Dee Davis's new series. I bought the first book, but haven't read it yet.
Hi all
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone is having a CHANCE to read this week. I have been reading Shattered by Karen Robards. It started out slow for me but now I am getting into it.
I bought a bunch of new books that are on my to read list. I got the new one by Mariah Stewart (one of my fave authors), the first two in Barbara Freethy's new trilogy and a bunch more waiting for my greedy little hands to pick up and read. So many books so little time to time.
Happy reading all this week.
Hey Mary! Looks like you had some good reads last week too! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI think I have Cate Noble's first book in her new series. I need to read it. Looks so good. I love her covers, don't you?
Hope you have a great week!
Thanks, Mary G and Kara. It was her. I think I am going to grab it also to try out. Thanks again. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Jackie
ReplyDeleteLet me know how it is. I just visited her website...Wow...the book looks like it'll be a good one!
Mary G I just ordered all of Cindy's bodyguard collection. I'm super excited!
Scorpio M- You are completely right! But sometimes it sure is difficult to choose your favorites. :)
Kara C yes I HATE it when I read a book that is a series and its not the first one. But I was already completely into the book before it dawned on me that it was a series. Owell...:0 I survived.
Oh and Christy I am praying for one of those author copies! So I will be tuned in like a hawk after its prey. lol
Have a great night everyone!
Hey Ida! Great to see you back here. We've miss you!
ReplyDeleteI have Lion's Heat but haven't started it yet. I'm about three or four behind on this series and wondering if I should read them first.
Hope you have a great week!
Hey Kara! Wow, that is some list! Looks like you hit the jackpot on good reads last week. Good for you. Now I need to write them on my list.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Hope you have a great week!
Hey Jane! Yes, now just two weeks away and LAST CHANCE will be here. Yay!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Hey Sarah! Looks like you've got some great reads scheduled. Hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteI've heard wonderful things about Mariah Stewart's new book. I bought it when it first came out but will have to wait a while to read it. It looks really good!
Have a great week!
Hey Crystal! You'll love Cindy Gerard's bodyguard series. Awesome books!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll be giving away several LAST CHANCE copies in the next week or so. LOL. I'll be on the lookout for circling hawks. (:
Crystal
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you on the Bodyguard series. Normally, I'd be a bit chicken to tell someone to buy 6 books but if you love Christy & Pamela, you'll love hers too. I've reread them as well. What Cindy does well:
1. Balances the suspense & HOT romance.
2. As you read them the previous characters make appearances so you get to see them again.
2. Although she has the style you love each book is different, not cookie-cutter. That is hard to do.
When you're done we'll discuss author Cherry Adair.
BTW - I think I read book 3 first. Didn't know it was part of a series & it didn't ruin it for me because they are so well-written.
Imagine how happy I was to go back & get the rest. Those I read in order.
Please let me know what you think
ReplyDeleteof DD's book Jackie.
Sorry Crystal
ReplyDeleteThat should be reasons 1, 2 & 3.
Really, I can count LOL.
I think I may have to pull the Bodyguard series out of my closet and read through them...again! Such a good series.
ReplyDeleteAnd, just because I have to see what all the fuss is about, I am definitely going to give Lisa Valdez's book a try. :)
Oklanannie,
I finished Beneath Bone Lake. What a good book! I really want to get back to Touch of Evil now.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Hey, Mary Thanks
ReplyDeleteChristy Shhh I am missing a few also
And I also wanted to add I had a hard time finding SECOND CHANCE.. Had to wait till they got more in
ReplyDeleteI just hit the library website and put several holds on books based on everyone's recommendations. Here's hoping to find more keepers! LOL
ReplyDeleteCrystal, you will definitely enjoy Cindy Gerard's books. And Mary's right, be sure to try Cherry Adair too. Also, Roxanne St. Claire is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteJackie, Dee Davis's new trilogy looks awesome! Will have to add them to my list too.
Hey Ida, so glad they got more SECOND CHANCE in! Thanks for wanting another one. (:
Ronlyn, I love libraries! Hope you find some treasures.
Hey All, stop by tomorrow morning! Giving away a couple of books! (:
ReplyDeleteHi Christy
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning Roxanne St. Claire. I bought Hunt Her Down a while ago. I didn't know it was a series Do you know if they have to be read in order?
Mary, Hunt Her Down is part of her Bullet Catcher series. She does a great job of drawing you into the story, so I don't think it's necessary to read from the beginning of the series. However, I think you'd really enjoy them all. I have Hunt Her Down but haven't read it yet. I've heard it's marvelous. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGood to know since I'm still in my rom susp mood. I'm not blaming you or anything though LOL. No really, seriously not your fault (while I wait for Last Chance).
ReplyDeleteMary, I'm always happy to contribute to a fun and healthy addiction. (:
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteI loved HUNT HER DOWN. Of course, I had read the whole series and had been waiting for Dan's story 4ever!! All the books are great, but I think you can read that one and get it. I think the series runs in threes for the most part so that every third book kind of wraps things up. Oh, and I finished Remember Me. Seriously, we have to wait until January for the next one? What a great book!
And Christy is VERY good at 'contributing to a fun and healthy addiction'. Look what she did for me and Criminal Minds! LOL
Did anyone know that Stephanie Tyler has another story and it is about Bat? It is in a book with other authors but it is in the HOT section of the bookstore. I have to many books I want. And to think I was without a book. Wish list: Last Chance,Lover Mine, Bat's story,Lorissa's book(ST's friend), and Dee Davis' book. Hope that is it for April!
ReplyDeleteOn a different note..... Christy your new signature looks Great!
ReplyDeleteChristy Reece
NYT Best-Selling Author!!!!!
:)love it!
Kara, So glad you liked Rememeber Me. Wasn't it awesome? Glad it's part of a trilogy but January is so far away. Thanks for the lowdown on Roxanne St. Claire.
ReplyDeleteJust finished Second Chance! LOVED IT!!! I am so excited for the Last Chance to be out soon!!
ReplyDeleteKara, a CM addiction is a good good thing...she says as she sips coffee from her UNSUB cup. (:
ReplyDeleteYay Jackie! Since you just won a copy of LAST CHANCE on my Facebook page you can check off one from your list! And thanks, I like my new signature line too. (:
Mary and Kara, guess I'd better check my TBR list and make sure Remember Me is on there.
Yay, Laura! I'm thrilled you enjoyed SECOND CHANCE!!! Thanks so much for letting me know! So happy you're looking forward to LAST CHANCE!
Everyone stay tuned. A CHANCE to win a copy of LAST CHANCE is coming very very soon!
where Christy?
ReplyDeleteJust posted a new blog for a CHANCE to win.
ReplyDelete
