How was your weekend? Did you read anything fabulous? Want to share?
This is a short post today. I'm hitting a pivotal point with SWEET JUSTICE and want to keep the momentum going. Seth and Honor are trying to work out their issues, but little do they know I'm about to throw them into the fire! Oh, I do love my job! (insert evil laughter)
I did get a CHANCE to read one book last week and really enjoyed it. Though it's been recommended here several times, I hesitated to try it because it's written in first person and I'm not usually a fan of first person. However, I must say that I was thoroughly entertained. What's that book? Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas. I know many of you have read and loved it, so thanks so much for the recommend!
Okay, your turn now. What are you recommending?
And don't forget to come back on Friday when we'll be talking favorite fall foods and sharing recipes. Yum! Can't wait!
Hope everyone has a lovely, productive and wonderful week!
We would never want to pull you away from SWEET JUSTICE so we don't mind a short & SWEET post! :)
ReplyDeleteI actually got quite a lot of reading done this past week! Not nearly as much as I would like but since I haven't read much since mid-September, I am happy :)
I read the new Jill Shalvis, Simply Irresistible. It was a great contemporary read with humor, great characters and a good storyline. I can't wait to see what is in store for the other 2 sisters!
I also finished Play Dirty by Lorie O'Clare. This one didn't really grab me. It wasn't a bad book but I had no problem putting it down. Not quite sure what/why it didn't work.
I read the Cindy Gerard and Laura Griffin stories in the Deadly Promises book. They were both fabulous and made me very hungry for new full length books from them both!
I also devoured Demon from the Dark by Kresley Cole. Very, yummy scenes in this one ;)
And right now I am about 3 chapters into JT Ellison's The Immortals. So far so good but it is going to be interesting to see where it goes!
Hope that everyone else had some good reads and has a fabulous week!
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteI reread No Chance last week. I love these books more and more each time I read them!!
I also read Karen Hawkins, And the Bride Wore Plaid. It is the fourth book in the Talisman Ring series. I enjoyed it. Can't wait to read the last book in the series.
I have a ton of books to read now, but some I have to wait until I find the first books in the series. :) Can't rile KK! lol
Hope everyone has a great week. Hopefully it is a short one for you.
Hello everyone. I am so happy you loved Sugar Daddy, you won't be sorry when you finish the series. Although I just found out she doesn't plan to do Joe's story, which was a bummer, but a really great series. Blue-Eyed Devil was my fav since I had some of the same issues in my life too, made it seem more real to me.
ReplyDeleteI had a great book week this week. I read the first in a new series by Carly Phillips, Kiss Me if You Can. Really cute "who done it" kind of story.
I also read the Darkest Hour by Maya Banks. This book was recommended so much on this site, and has just been sitting in my TBR pile, but if it is in your TBR pile, move it up the list. This was an awesome book, I can't wait till December when the next in the series is released.
I also started Shannon K Butcher's series with No Regrets. This was also a recommend from here. I really enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down.
I can't decide if I want to start the next Shannon K Butcher book or the next Carly Philips book or a new series by Pamela Clare.
Happy Monday everyone. Enjoy your week.
I'm currently reading "Sweet Surrender" by Maya Banks, after finishing up "The Darkest Hour" in the early days of last week.
ReplyDeleteOMG, this woman can write! *fanning myself*
DH has approved my Maya Banks books for "whenever you want babe". LOL. (Complete side note, but the first time I met Pamela Clare I was very pg with my youngest and he told her that her books were approved by him for "whenever you want babe" reading. I thought she was going to bust a gut laughing at his endorsment.
I also read a Susan Andersen, which was very fun. "Fluffy" reading, but fun.
HOPE!! Start Pamela Clare's!!! You won't regret it!!
ReplyDelete..I guess you still haven't got your Suzanne Brockmanns book huh? ...sigh... I should mail you my copy! lol
Hi All!
ReplyDeleteAly, I agree with you on Lorie O’Clares book Play Dirty…it was ok. I think the issue for me with the book was the sort of power struggle between Haley and Greg. Haley had this thing with being in charge. This is the start of a series…I’ll probably check out the next in the series to see if it improves.
I found a couple books in weekly used book shopping trip by Marie Force that I really enjoyed in my …Line of Scrimmage and Love at First Flight. I also read the Cindy Gerard story in Deadly Promises…I only wish it had been longer!
In my shopping trip I picked up my first Judith McNaught book…Perfect, I’m looking forward to reading it.
Hope everyone has a great week!!
Crystal, NO, I haven't gotten that darn book, I am beginning to lose my patience. THAT is the book I REALLY want to start. I have called and called and then I even went to the store, and all they tell me is backorder. They don't even have it in stock like the website said they did. FRUSTRATING. I should try our UBS, I always forget we have one of those LOL
ReplyDeleteWhich Suzanne Brockman Hope?
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Crystal, READ PAMELA CLARE! I can't say it often or loudly enough.
Alyssa and Sam's story, Gone to far.
ReplyDeleteHope I'll go to our little ol book store here and see if they happen to have a copy of Gone to Far. If so I'll get it and send it to you.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I believe I have that in hardback in the pile of books I inherited. I'll double check when I get home, but I'm 95% sure that's the one that is currently sitting in my donation pile. If you want it, it's yours.
ReplyDelete@ Christy, I am SO glad you went out of your comfort zone and dived into Sugar Daddy. Keep going with that series. The other two are just as good, if not better than SD. Now on FB, you are sending Seth and Honor a tidal wave and here you are putting them through fire. Your poor, poor heroes. They certainly earn the HEA, don't they? We miss hearing from you, but I know we are all thrilled that Seth and Honor are cooperating and the writing is going well.
ReplyDelete@Aly, I just got the new Jill Shalvis book but haven't started it. I'm glad to hear you liked it. That makes me fairly certain I will too.
@ Hope, while you absolutely cannot go wrong with a PC book, don't forget to go back to those SKB stories as well. Well worth it.
I just finished the new Louisa Edwards' book Just One Taste. Although it took just a bit for me to decide I liked it, it took off and I couldn't finish it fast enough! Right now I'm reading something a little different that my mom recommended to me, and I think Christy said she had in her TBR pile. It's called The Help. I have just started it but it is very good.
Ronlyn if you donate that book to me, I would be your bestest friend ever. Lots of chocolate and coffee coming your way missy.
ReplyDeleteKK - I read The Help too, wasn't my norm, but it was definitely good
Hope - I', pretty sure I have every last Suz Brockmann, so I'd be happy to lend you one if you can't get it elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI read Shannon K. Butcher's Running Scared, the third installment in the Sentinel Wars. The first two were so good, but this one was not quite (although I still liked it). I'm also reading the Dee Davis series (Desperate Deeds, Dangerous Desires, and Dark Deceptions)...in order :-). Two down, one to go. They are good.
I just finished Taken by Midnight by Lara Adrian...Brock and Jenna are yummy!
ReplyDeleteHi Christy, hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteI finally got "the darkest hour" last thursday evening and started reading right away(finished it on friday). It really was the great read I was told here and without your recommendations I would never have discovered it. I will definitely order the next book "no place to run".
Hope, I can imagine how impatient you are waiting for "gone too far" because I had to try three different online bookstores till I got my copy - and I so wanted to read Sams an Alyssas story. But it was worth the waiting.
Which of the troubleshooters do you like best so far ?
Cristal, on my list for my next amazon order is definitely one by Pamela Clare. Is there a special recommendation ?
Last week I also read two books by Kylie Brant, "waking the dead" and even better "waking nightmare". The next one" waking evil" is also on my tbr-list.
A great series i.m.o. is also the millers kill series (Clare Fergusen/Russ van Alstyne mysteries) by Julia Spencer-Fleming. This series is the reason I started reading English books, because I definitely did`nt want to wait a whole year for the german translation.
These books one must read in the correct order( !lol) because although the stories are independent, the relationship between Clare and Russ is developing from book to book. Its quite fascinating.
Christy, good luck with SWEET JUSTICE, and I am looking forward to the excerpt of Jamies and Dylans story. How long will we have to wait ?
Have a nice week everyone.
Elke-
ReplyDeleteI have not read any of Pamela Clare's historical books, but her I-team series is GREAT! My favorite are Hard Evidence an Unlawful Contact, but I would recommend reading them in order. After you read them you'll have to let us here at Recommend Monday which team you are on... Team Reece, Julian, Marc, or Gabe? I am team Julian/Marc, but I have a feeling I'll be adding Zach to my little male team!! You'll enjoy them all. You really can't go wrong!
I've read Pamela Clare's historal books and they are just as great as her I-team series.
ReplyDeleteI have had Sugar Daddy in my piles ofr ages. The thing that is keeping me from reading it is the fact that i read somewhere it was close to women's fiction and i do not enjoy women's fiction.
ReplyDeleteCannot remember what i did this weekend - musn't have been anything exciting.
I did devour a book - Tessa Dare's One Dance with a Duke. I loved it. I had read her first trilogy and had found the second and third book not so easy to get through. However, I still bought all the books in her Stud Club trilogy and boy am I glad i did. Her writing is fantastic and the interaction between the characters great. IMO TD has matured so much in her writing. It's a keeper for me. Am reading the second in the trilogy Twice Tempted by a Rogue. I read this is not so good as the first one, however, the third book Three Nights with a Scoundrel is a favourite with many.

Elke, I think my favorite so far is Over the Edge, Teri Howe and Stan Wolchonok's story. BUT, I have read the first chapter of Sam and Alyssa's story and I think it will soon be my favorite. I love these two, and the fact they are brought up in all the books so far, makes me anticipate it that much more.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked The Darkest Hour - I really can't wait to see these characters develop, and the fact that it is such a large family, makes for many more books to come ;o) She has another series that I am curious to try out too, the SWEET series.
It is frustrating to get in to a series just to not be able to get the next one in the series, or worse yet, not know the book you bought was a series book and have to wait to read it until you get the first one. Luckily the Reeces's Peeces are going to take care of me, I should get my book soon.
Elke, you really can't go wrong with any Pamela Clare book. Her historicals are great. Her romantic suspense (the I-Team) is fantastic. She is the one who dragged me into reading romantic suspense after reading Surrender (the first in her MacKinnion Ranger series) and the only thing I could get my hands on was the first I-Team book. She's Fan-tastic.
ReplyDeleteI should go see if I can drag her booty over here.
Okay, Ronlyn sank her claws into me and here I am. ::waving at everyone::
ReplyDeleteHi, Christy! Hi, Aly, Alison, Kara, Crystal, Ronlyn! And hello to those of you I haven't e-met yet.
I remember the incident in question when proof of Ronlyn's excellent sex life was making her waddle and her DH told me that he had give my books a thumbs up — she could buy as many as she wanted and read them whenever she wanted.
That was pretty awesome, because it was the first time we'd met in person. Nothing like getting down to it, eh?
As far as reading goes, I have so much research to do for my next historical, and I've just finished a lot of research about law enforcement along the U.S./Mexico border. And thought I'd be happy to recommend MIDNIGHT ON THE LINE, I doubt anyone wants to read nonfiction.
In the meantime, THANKS for the sweet words about my books. I try each time to write something that is worth your time. :-)
(((Hugs)))
P.C.
Waving back at ya, Pamela!
ReplyDeleteYour books are some of the very first we give out as highly recommended to new folks here. All we ask, of course, is they report back later to sign up for a team. :)
wait, you mean that was TMI?! LOL.
ReplyDeleteKara, that's so sweet. And, yes, we need to know what team they're on, if for no other reason than we're all very curious.
ReplyDeleteRonlyn, I'm a reporter. There's no such thing as TMI. But it's not what I expected to come out of Scott's mouth. Most guys aren't that honest. But that's just another reason he rocks. :-)
Hi Pamela!!
ReplyDeleteRonlyn I would have given anything to have witnessed this introduction. I'm sure it was comical!
Hey Everyone! Glad to see you've been busy recommending books and having a good time! I already see several books I'm going to have to add to my ever growing list.
ReplyDeleteCrystal, thanks for giving NO CHANCE another read! Always love to hear about revisits to the LCR gang!
Elke, I hope to be sharing some news about the SWEET trilogy soon. Stay tuned!
Hey Pamela, always wonderful to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by and saying hey. We're all eagerly waiting your next books!
Feel free to keep chatting. Seth and Honor are keeping me busy, but I'll check back tomorrow.
Nite all!
My good friend has borrowed books from me twice. Her first child is about a year and a half and is now expecting another child. How do you guys do that???? :-)
ReplyDeleteI told her she should name the kids after the hero/heroine of the book (which I really don't want back now!!!)
My PC is bugged so emailing form work.
ReplyDeleteRead The Best of Friends (by Susan Mallery) last night - couldn't put it down & read it till I was finished at 3:15AM. My eyes are gritty but it was so worth it.
This post isn't about movies but I've watched The Blind Side 3 times this week - just loved it. Is there a cure? LOL.
