Sorry I'm late! (Bad way to start off a new year!) We just drove in from my mom's where we rang in the new year with champagne, old movies and Mayberryopoly. Fun was had by all!
How was your new year's weekend? Did you party, stay at home with family and friends or sleep through it? Any fun stories you want to share?
I had planned to start off the year talking about our favorite reads from last year but I didn't get a chance to put my list together. You might want to think on it too, so let's table that discussion until next Monday. That way we'll be sure to hit all the ones we loved in 2011.
Thank you to everyone who has emailed me or sent me messages via Facebook and Twitter telling me how much you loved Mia and Jared in SWEET REWARD. There's no sweeter reward for an author than to hear those words!
I'm blogging over at Fresh Fiction today, talking about tortured characters, which, as you know, includes most of the LCR gang. Hope you'll come over and chat. There's a SWEET giveaway! Also, just got notice that SWEET REWARD is a Fresh Fiction Fresh Pick! Woohoo! How SWEET is that! Here's the link to the blog: http://freshfiction.com/page.php?id=3869
And here's the link to the Fresh Pick page: http://freshfiction.com/pick.php Come by and say hey!
The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy with the holidays and a SWEET release, but I did manage to read a fabulous book! I think I saw this book recommended on an Amazon forum and thought it sounded interesting. So glad I went with the recommendation. What Mattered Most by Linda Winfree was a fabulous angst-filled and emotional journey. The HEA isn't an easy one but well worth the effort it takes to get there.
What about you? What have you read lately that you absolutely loved?
This week I'm planning to write like the wind. I have a March deadline. I also have two characters who went silent on me during the holidays. Now that the fun and frivolity is over, I'm counting on them to get serious and tell me their story. Wish us luck!
Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday. Can't wait to hear what you're recommending today!
I'm reading Inside by Brenda Novak. It's really good so far.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Christy & Co!
ReplyDeleteI just finished the first two books in Leslie Parrish's BLACK CAT trilogy and enjoyed them both. They hit my need for a dark RS, which was perfect.
Good Luck on torturing your characters into talking to you again Christy! It's so hard when they go silent, but with the holidays and all it was probably a nice little break. As long as they start chatting again easily.
Just finished Victoria Dahl's latest series about the Donovan family. Really good.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year everyone! I am currently reading Kat Martin's Against series. Good contemporary romances combined with Romantic suspense.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Everyone!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Maya Banks In Bed With a Highlander the 1st book in her McCabe trilogy and really enjoyed it. I also read Sweet Reward last week and it was just as amazing as I knew it would be!
Christy, I hope your characters start talking to again :)
I'm off to start Seduction of a Highland Lass!
Happy New Year! We went to a friend's house for a party and and a good time was had by all. We're off today and met up with a bunch of friends for laser tag. I was the only mom there (my handle is "The Mominator") and I beat out all the dads in all three games!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm still on my LCR re-read. I had hoped to be done and read Jared/Mia by now, but it took me 4 days to get through one book while I was home visiting with my mom and brother. I can honestly say that Seth is still my absolute favorite, but everyone else is a very, very close second. They are all such amazing books and characters that it is really difficult to choose!!!
Good luck Christy on getting back in the groove...I have the utmost faith in you!!!!
Wishing everyone a Happy 2012! I started the challenge extended by my daughter to buddy-read The Hunger Games Trilogy with her. It's not really my cuppa but . . . I'm never one to turn down a challenge. So far it's very interesting, tense and a whole lot sad and emotional. I don't think it will go down as one of my favorite reads and that's about all I can say for now.
ReplyDeleteKeeping my fingers crossed that the new characters get talkative and cough up some real juicy tidbits for you to use in the new series, Christy! It's for certain that I can't wait to learn more about these characters and the new books.
Off to watch my Oklahoma State Cowboys beat up on Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl!!!! Go 'Pokes!!! (Please oh please let it be!!!)

Wow- totally forgot it was Monday!
ReplyDeleteSo I read a few goodies over the past week. The Next Always- Took me a while to get into it, but when I did it was pretty good. Wild Thing- really good, sexy read. Some like it hot- also wasn't sure about this one but it turned out to be realy cute. Hummingbird Lake- I tried this one a while ago and couldn't get into it, but I decided to give it another try, turns out it was pretty good.
Well thats it for me. Happy New Year ladies!!
I am reading "Sweet Revenge" I love Dylan & Jamie and I loaded "Sweet Reward in my e-reader for when I finish reading Dylan & Jamie's Story:)
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR! I read (and recommend) Sweet Reward! I loved it! As soon as I was done the last page, I flipped to the beginning and read it again..LOL. Also read and highly recommend Space in His Hear by Roxanne St. Claire. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, thanks! I have this one of my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteHey Ronlyn, happy new year to you too! I have the Black Cat trilogy but haven't gotten to them yet either. Yikes, maybe I need to revise my new year's resolution list and add the one about reading all the books I have.
Thanks for the good wishes on torturing my characters to make them talk. They were silent again yesterday but I've already heard a few whispers today. Fingers crossed!
Hi Trish! Thanks for the recommend. I'll have to check and see if I have Victoria's latest. I think I may have a couple in that series.
ReplyDeleteHey Danny! I have that series and haven't read it yet. Whoever came up with the saying 'so many books and too little time' or something like that was right on the money. (:
Hey Alison, thanks so much. I'm so glad you enjoyed SWEET REWARD! I need to get Maya's Highlander series. I've heard they're similar in style to the old Julie Garwood historicals, which I loved.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! The Mominator! LOL Love it! Glad to hear your LCR reread is going well but Seth still holds your heart. He'd be happy to know that. And thank you for your kind words on the LCR series. They inspire me!
Hey Anne! First of all, congrats to your Oklahoma State Cowboys! They were awesome last night! What a great way to start off the new year!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love the idea of a buddy read. I've not read the Hunger Games. Post apocalyptic stories aren't my thing, however, I think our reading tastes are similar, so let me know your thoughts once you finish.
My characters are feeding me tidbits at a time but we're about to have a little chat about deadlines. Hopefully that will get them to be a bit more chatty today. (:
Hey KC! What a great list of recommends! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it interesting that you can pick up a book and not be that crazy about it but then later pick it up and enjoy it? I love when that happens!
Hey Gail! So glad you're enjoying SWEET REVENGE! Hope you enjoy SWEET REWARD, too!
Hey Barb! Happy New Year to you, too! I'm so glad you enjoyed SWEET REWARD and I love that you immediately started reading it again. Can't think of a nicer compliment!
ReplyDeleteI have Rocki St. Claire's Space in His Heart on my Kindle. Heard so many great things about this one and am looking forward to reading it.
I just got done with Sweet Reward, I LOVED it but I loved all of the LCR gang. I also read the Next Always and thought it was really good., next up is Sleepwalkers by Karen Robards. I can't wait for your next book to come out.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi! Thanks so much. I'm thrilled you enjoyed SWEET REWARD and I love that you love the LCR gang!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommends. Sleepwalkers sounds interesting!
