Good Monday Everyone!
Hope you had a fabulous weekend and you're ready for a brand new week. My weekend was wonderfully full with reading, writing and spending time with my hubby and fur-kids. Our weather has been exceptional and though I'm afraid we're going to pay for it with a blizzard in May or June, I'm enjoying the heck out of it right now.
Wanted to say thank you again to Anne Woodall for doing such an exceptional job last week on the blog. Her post was so well thought out and had me adding several new-to-me authors to my TBR list.
My plan is to have one reader Recommend Monday blog a month, giving you all a chance to talk about your favorite books, series, authors, why you read romance or your favorite types of themes. Basically anything to do with books, reading or romance. If you're interested, email me at christy@christyreece.com and we'll chat. I've got volunteers booked through April, but the rest of the months are up for grabs.
I did read a fabulous book over the weekend, but I'm judging it for the RWA Rita contest and can't tell you what it is. (Yes, I know that's cruel!) I've got eight books to judge, with a deadline of early March. Got lots of reading to do and at some point, I'll definitely be recommending some of these books. So many fabulous authors and stories out there!
However, I wanted to mention again that if you haven't read Wait For Me by Elisabeth Naughton, you're missing out. I'm a sucker for an amnesia story and the way the heroine loses her memory is scarily realistic. There's a wonderful amount of angst, sizzle and suspense and I loved how Naughton allowed Kate and Ryan the time to fall in love again. Highly recommended!
SECRETS OF A SOUTHERN NIGHT is coming along very well. Zach and Savannah had a few more secrets than I originally thought. LOL I actually thought there was only one major secret. Boy oh boy do my characters love to surprise me. Now you know why I torture my characters so much...they do it to me first!
Okay, gotta go...hubby's calling. Saint's Alive, he's making me breakfast!
Can't wait to see what books you loved last week. And while you're at it, tell us what up-coming releases you're excited about reading.
Happy Monday All!

I've been hooked on Kristen Ashley's work. I absolutely love love love her books. My favorites are Lady Luck from her Colorado Mountain series and Mystery Man from her Dream Man series. Check em out!!
ReplyDeleteHi Christy! Happy Monday All!
ReplyDeleteI'm still on my Kristen Ashley kick. This past week I've read four of her books. Mystery Man and Wild Man from her Dream Man series, For You from The Burg series and Heaven and Hell a stand alone. Loved these books! My fave of the four was Heaven and Hell.
Have a good week everyone!
Happy Monday! Mine is nearly over :).
ReplyDeleteHave finally managed to squeeze a few books in and have worked on my romantic suspense pile by starting with the books that had been in the pile the most. Read the last two books in Beverly Barton's last Griffin Powell trilogy - Dead by Morninag and Dead by Nightfall. She was a fab author. Her demise was a shock.
Read Stephanie Tyler's In the Air Tonight and Night Moves too - good but not super IMHO. And i think my problem lays with the sexual tension between the characters - not with the plot or the sex in itself. Sorry don't know how to explain myself better.
So now I am all prepped up for some SWEET reading. Have been saving the trilogy for when i have some decent reading time and this week should be it. Will read the books back to back. SWEET Justice is on my bedside with my Sweet Justice bookmark ready :)
I didn't get much time to read this week. I was feeling a little under the weather:( plus I was helping hubby with his business. As of lately though I have been on a paranormal kick. I reieved my copy of Lara Adrian's lastest "Midnight Breed novel in the mail and I started Gena Showalter's "Lords of the underworld" series and Larissa Ione's "Demonica" series. I can't wait for JR Ward's new lack Dagger Brotherhood" book and tomorrow "Lucky Penny" by Catherine Anderson comes out.
ReplyDeleteHi Christy, hi Everyone!
ReplyDeleteChristy it seems to me that you like to torture your readers as well - always those tiny bits of information - and us poor ones have to wait way too long for the full story.
I enjoyed Annes blog last week and I started with one of her recommends:
I ordered Jaycee Clarks"Deadly Shadows".
I had a bit of a problem first with this book - even put it aside for a few days, but decded to give it a chance - and I am really glad I did. The second half had me hooked and now I am already reading the third book " Deadly Obsession" and looking forward to the next two books about the Kinkaid brothers. A great recommend Annie!
Tomorrow the last book in Cindy Gerards BOI series "Last man standing" comes out and I can´t wait to read Joes story, although it is a bit sad that its the last in this series. I liked those boys.
Have a great week everyone!
On your recommend, I bought the Eliz Naughton. Haven't gotten a chance to read it yet, but have it hovering near the top of the TBR! Glad to hear you had a nice weekend with the fam.
ReplyDeleteToday was a teacher work day, so Casey and I just got back from a girls day of shopping. We had a lovely lunch too and I'm getting ready to do her nails. Tomorrow I head to Long Beach for work. Looking forward to connecting with some friends on the short trip out there.
This past weekend I read the Serendipity series by Carly Phillips. Really cute and fluffy reads....just what I needed.
PS-- I also agree that Anne did a faboo job on the guest blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks to Christy for asking me to guest blog and to others who have said they enjoyed it as well. Although I always get nervous and fretful, it was lots of fun and I do enjoy the interaction with my reading buddies!
ReplyDeleteI'm on a Kristen Ashley book binge as well. I've read five now with "Heaven and Hell" and "Play It Safe" being my favorites. I'm anxious for "Law Man" which releases on February 6th. These books are so very different from anything I've ever read before but I'm certainly captivated by them.
One thing is for certain, I'm really looking forward to hearing more of Christy's "Southern Secrets!"
I need to come back with my recommends. I came by earlier, read Christy's blog then went to checkout her recommend. Well now I am stuck in it. I don't want to put it down. So I will be back soon with my recommends. Read a few good ones. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnne I loved your blog!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so late once again.
ReplyDeleteChristy I am stoked to hear more about Secrets of a Southern Night! It already sounds fabulous.
Last week I read Jaycee Clarks Deadly Shadows. It took me a little longer than I like to get into it, but once it grabbed me it held on tight.
I've been in desperate need of a Marc fix. My two paperback copies are in Missouri so I broke down and bought Unlawful Contact for my nook. **SIGH** one of my all time favorite fall back books. I love it more every time I read it.
I am looking forward to Cindy Gerards Last Man Standing that comes out tomorrow. I have started Wild Card by Lora Leigh at the strong encouraging from Jackie. So hopefully next week I have a list of recommends for everyone. :) Hope everyone has a great week!
Christy I hope your mom is still recovering quickly!
I tried to renew my drivers license today. What a mess! Didn't have all the forms of ID- all 10 of them! So I will be back there my next day off. Yay me! Any way back to the books!
ReplyDeleteLast week was a dud(book wise) for me. I read some that were ok but not Rec. Monday worthy. I did get some ideas for this weeks reading (thanks ladies!)and will be adding to my TBR pile- again! I did read some by Cat Johnson- Unridden and Bucked, they actually were cute, not as much sex as I thought, still plent hot, though!
I am excited for "If you see her" by Shiloh Walker out tomorrow.
Hi just dropping in for my shopping list lol.
ReplyDeleteChristy, thanks for the Zach & Savannah teaser.
And Anne, you rocked the guest blog last week. Sorry I was late.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. I have a TBR pile that is about 250 books. How big a pile is too big? should I join som sort of rehab group for romance book consumers?
ReplyDeleteDear Gail,
ReplyDeleteyour TBR sounds just about right. And this is your therapy location (aka "shopping location" as Mary puts it).
:-)
Fabulous recommends everyone! Amanda, Alison, and Anne, looks like I definitely need to read Kristen Ashley. Are they all in first person?
ReplyDeleteLuci, I sincerely hope you enjoy your SWEET reads!
Gail, hope you're feeling better. And I agree with Kris, 250 in your TBR sounds perfect to me.
LOL Elke, passing the torture around makes it less painful for us all...at least that's what I tell myself. (:
Kris,I think you'll really enjoy Wait For Me.
LOL Jackie, glad you're enjoying my recommend!
Crystal, thank you! My mom is doing very well!
KC, I hear you on the driver's license. Hate having to do that!
Hey Mary G! Looks like there are several good ones for your shopping and reading pleasure. (:
Thanks all for your words of encouragement for Zach and Savannah. So glad you're looking forward to their book!
Have a great Tuesday all!
Christy - As far as I can tell all of Kristen Ashley 's books are in first person. You should definitely try them they rock!
