Recommend Monday

Good Monday Everyone!

I hope you had a good weekend. The weather is still steamy here but I have hope for relief soon. My mom said someone predicted that October will be as hot as August. I refuse to believe that prediction. It just can be true! LOL Hubby thinks it's funny that I'm complaining about the heat because I'm usually reveling in it. But enough's enough. Right?

So many good things happened last week that I want to share with you. First, I was so thrilled and honored that SWEET JUSTICE won the KOD chapter's Daphne contest for Best Single Title Romantic Suspense! I was thrilled to final and be among some of my favorite authors, but to win? Wow, I'm just over the moon! So happy for Seth, Honor and the whole LCR gang!

Also I received the back cover copy for MIDNIGHT SECRETS. Here it is, let me know what you think!

***

AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT, THE HEAT BEGINS

On a hot southern night, with a storm on the horizon, a family is shattered. Three beautiful daughters—Savannah, Samantha, and Sabrina Wilde—go on with their lives, each significantly changed, as they bear the memory of the murder-suicide that killed their parents. For years, they have stayed away from Midnight, Alabama. Until Midnight calls them home.

Savannah is the first one back, when a grueling case in Nashville leads the young prosecutor to seek shelter in the quiet of the once grand Wilde mansion. But when she finds letters casting doubt on her family’s dark, shameful past, she realizes that peace in Midnight is a shallow façade and sinister secrets lurk beneath the surface. Zach Tanner, once the town’s bad boy, is now the new police chief and still has a wild hold over her. Zach can feel it, too, but he hurt Savannah once. As teenagers, they broke every rule together. Now it’s his job to keep her safe, even though he isn’t sure who her enemies are, or which ones might be his own. All he knows is that they have only each other to face dangers they can’t see coming.

And to make things even more cheery, both MIDNIGHT LIES and CHANCES ARE are coming along nicely. I'm only in the early stages of MIDNIGHT LIES, by my hero and heroine, Quinn Braddock and Samantha Wilde, are experiencing some major angst already. Love it! (:

Also, in CHANCES ARE, not only did we decide to return to a London setting for the story, Jake Mallory and Angela Delvecchio are heating up the pages. And I love that several LCR operatives have made an appearance. So far, I've seen Noah, Eden, Jordan, Ethan, Shea and Aidan. Oh, and Sabrina Fox, who you met briefly in SWEET REVENGE, is involved too. In fact, she's given me some signals that she's wanting her own story. Yay!

As you know, the RWA National Convention was last week and I'm so glad I was busy since I was in serious envy and major regret for not going. Saturday night was the Rita and Golden Heart ceremony, which is like the Academy Awards for romance writers. Here's a link to the list of winners. The first names on the list are the Golden Heart winners, which are some of the future stars of the romance genre. Scroll down to the Rita award winners and get some fabulous recommendations! http://www.rwa.org/cs/2012RITAGH

Okay, that's it for me. I'm headed back to Midnight, Alabama for a few hours and then will fly to London for a quickie. (:

Hope you all have a marvelous Monday. Can't wait to hear your recommendations!

  1. Wow, LOVE the excerpt of Midnight Secrets. Can't wait to read it!! And super congrats on SJ...you know how much I LOVE that story!!

Sorry to have missed last week, but I have two great recommends for this week. Dangerously Close by Dee J Adams. This is the third in a series (the first two centered around car racing). This was a slightly different story featuring a character in the previous book and it really struck a chord with me. Loved it! My other recommend is Rescue Me by Rachel Gibson. I've always been a fan of hers, but reading some less than stellar reviews of her latest had me a bit worried. However, I really, really, thoroughly enjoyed the story.

    Have a great weekk everyone.

  2. I just finished reading A Discovery Of Witches by Deborah Harkness. Great book, a real page turner. It would remind in a way of a Harry Porter for adults.

  3. Good morning from hot & dry OK! Temps all week forecasted for 110-113 degrees. Yesterday my car thermometer registered 112 at 4:00pm. I HATE THIS MISERABLE HEAT!!!!

Still smiling and thrilled for you, Christy, on SWEET JUSTICE's win of the KOD Daphne Award!

Love the back cover blurb for MIDNIGHT SECRETS! Very nice and "hook" worthy!!

Happy to hear CHANCES ARE is going well. Are Angela and Jake attending any of the Olympic games while in London?

Last week I read a psychological thriller by Gillian Flynn titled GIRL GONE. A really good read!

Also read Kristen Ashley's latest, BREATHE. Another good story from her in the "Colorado Mountain" series.

Am starting on an epic love trilogy this week by Paullina Simons, THE BRONZE HORSEMAN. It's getting wonderful reviews and I'm excited to get started.

    Happy Reading everyone!

  5. It is very rare that I would say this but thank goodness it is Monday. Weekend was not great and was in a grump for most of it. Saturday was the worst headache I have had in a long time. Then finally was able to be upright for more then two hours at a time and had to go buy tires >:( I did manage to read a few books over the last week/weekend. Karin Slaughter's Criminal (very good!) Christine Feehan's Samari Game, and started Pamela Callows Tattooed. This week has to be a good one. I also was glad to see you win the award for your book!

  6. Hi everyone...Christy love the blurb, can't wait to visit Midnight!!!

I have been crazy busy the past few weeks with travels for my son's karate. We just got back from a 2 week jaunt and I am so happy to be home. You would think with all that traveling I would have lots of recommends, but sadly, that is not the case. I do have 2.

I started the Colorado series by Kristen Ashley, the first one, The Gamble, and for me it started a little slow but I ended up loving it.

And I read Ruth Cardello's latest, Bedding a Billionaire, the 3rd in the series, and really enjoyed that one.

Finally...Snapped by Laura Griffin. I was behind on the Tracer series, but REALLY loved this one.

    Have a great week everyone.

Only one recommend this week, Breathe by Kristen Ashley. I loved it! I plan to read The Love of a Stranger by Anna Jeffrey, but the Olympics keep distracting me. Love watching all the events!

    Have a great week everyone!

    A few recommends for me:
Finally read Bared to you by Sylvia Day, I was surprised with this one I didn't think I would like it but I really did can't wait for the next book. Crazy on you by Rachel Gibson, Out of her League by Kaylea Cross, and Against the Sun by Kat Martin. All good books.

Don't know how much reading I'm going to get done with the Olympics. I really love the swimming.

  10. My brother visited from out of state recently, where, he said, the high temp at his house the day he left was 72. 72?!?!!! I remember 72. I think.

Congrats again on the win AND the upcoming best seller, MIDNIGHT SECRETS.

  11. Congratulations on your big win Christy!! You (and Seth an Honor) deserved it.
I've been in a reading slump and haven't had anything good to recommend. The last great book I read was Defiant and that was weeks ago. I'm hoping for a turn around soon. I can't believe how long it's been since I've commented here. :( I'll have to get back on my game. lol Hope everyone is staying cool this week.
