Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All!

I hope you had a good weekend. After the tragedy and horror in Aurora, it seems escaping into a good book is even more enticing, especially one with a happy-ever-after ending. I hope you were able to do that. My heart grieves and aches for the victims.

Did you get a chance to see the cover for MIDNIGHT SECRETS? What did you think? I'm still trying to figure out how to get a life sized poster for my office and my hubby is still trying to figure out how they took this picture of him without him knowing it. (:  I'm so happy the cover depicts the sexy, drool-worthy hero that is Zach Tanner. Can't wait for you all to meet him. Didn't get to see the cover? You can see it in the blog post before this one or check it out here on my Ella Grace Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=362765027126615&set=a.362765020459949.78084.347027175367067&type=1&theater

This week is the RWA National Convention in Anaheim, California. I made the decision a few months ago that I wouldn't attend this year. I knew when the time came, I would have serious regret and of course I am. I love the energy and dynamics created by hundreds of people gathering to share, learn, and celebrate the many facets of the romance genre. I'll probably miss the literacy signing most of all. Meeting readers is one of the most enjoyable aspects of being an author. I'm definitely attending next year. It's in Atlanta, which is only two hours from me. So nice not to have to fly!

As you know, I've been having monthly LCR book discussions over on the Last Chance Rescue Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/LastChanceRescuebooksbychristyreece?ref=hl  If you get a chance, drop by on Friday, July 27, where I'll be discussing the characters, story and 'oh my gosh' surprise moments of NO CHANCE.

What books did you read and love last week? I'm holding off reading anything new for a few more weeks. I really need to concentrate on my characters and storylines and don't like to blur my thinking. However, once I'm ready to read again, I'm definitely going to have a stack higher than my house. Man oh man there are some great books out there.

Okay, that's it for me this week. I hope you have a fabulous one. Now tell us what great books we should be reading!

  2. I love finding new authors - I read Edge of Survival by Toni Anderson. I age it 5 stars for the suspense and realistic scene descriptions and a very realistic look at a person living with diabetes.
The Guardian by Marliss Melton - powerful book!
And I read a new release by an author I've come to love Autumn Jordon's Seized By Darkness

  3. Hi Christy!

Love the cover for MIDNIGHT SECRETS!!

I read two books by new authors this weekend and really enjoyed both of them. The first was The Love of a Cowboy by Anna Jeffrey and the second was The Memory of You by Laurie Kellogg.

Tonight I'm going to start Kristen Ashley's latest Breathe. I'm so glad it was released today...I struggled all day yesterday deciding what I wanted to read next.

Hope everyone has a great week!

  4. Christy, Zach's cover is SO FINE. I've heard some chatter on Goodreads lately regarding "Midnight Secrets" and the interest it's building. Always makes me smile!

Recently, I've been on a YA genre kick - and found some rather interesting reads. My latest, by Nicole Williams was "Crash." LOVED IT! Another book by a new-to-me-author, Brooklyn James, entitled "The Boots My Mother Gave Me" was a fabulous read and I would recommend it to all romance readers. And finally, it's not often I find a romance book by a male author that wows me BUT Jeremy Asher's "Across the Creek" did just that. Three really different and captivating reads from my reading corner this past week.

Like Alison, I off to read "Breathe" by Kristen Ashley. Happy Reading this week!

  5. Jill Shalvis, a new to me author, is wonderful. I read the first three books in the Lucky Harbor series. Enjoyed every word. I also read the second book in the A-Tac series, by Dee Davis. I enjoyed this book even more than the last.

We had a brief reprieve from the hell like temperatures. And lots of rain and humidity. The rain being welcome.

Daughter and I saw Magic Mike last week. Really fine dancing skills these guys displayed.

Jeannie, I love my nookcolor, but what a good advertisement for Kindle! Good to know info.

    Write Christy write!

  9. Elke - I agree with Sam that you can't go wrong with the any of Ashley's books. I have not read all the Rock Chicks series but I LOVED the "Dream Man Series." And she has several standalones that are very good. "Heaven or Hell" is one of my favorites as well as "Playing It Safe."

Let us know what you think!

  13. Hi Christy,

Finally read Sweet Justice (14 hours layover with one of my flights)which was great because gave me plenty of reading time in addition to the long flights kept me entertained and my mind off the time. Loved Sweet Justice. So far i'm only in chapter 3 in Sweet Revenge but enjoying the love/hate relationship between Dyland & Jamie.
    Thanks for the great stories
