Recommend Monday!

Hey Everyone!

Did you have a fabulous week and weekend? Mine was wonderful and major busy! Thank you to those who have emailed and messaged me about how much you enjoyed SECOND CHANCE! I'm thrilled you're happy with Cole and Keeley's story and the happy ending they received.

I'm buckling down this week. Got to do some mega writing on SWEET REVENGE. I've found that writing during the week of a book release is almost impossible for me. So needless to say, I didn't get a lot of writing done last week. Need to make up for it this week.

But what about you? What fabulous books did you read last week that you're dying for everyone to know about? I didn't get the CHANCE to read anything new last week, so no recommends from me, dog-gone-it. But I do look forward to hearing about yours. Always eager to add to my TBR list!

Also, Oklanannie (Anne) was so SWEET to invite me over to her Book Board discussion loop. I'd love to have everyone join us. We're talking books, Criminal Minds, covers and lots of other fun book stuff. Come over and chat with us! Here's the link:

Hope everyone has a most excellent week. Now, tell us what you've been reading and then come chat!

  1. Hey everyone!
I had a sick hubby this weekend so I am recovering from that lol.

I read Mercy, and Burn by Linda Howard both were good. I also finished reading the I-Team series. I honestly can't pick between Julian and Marc OMG!! I love them! Naked Edge was good also, but Marc and Julian stole my heart they are fighting over it I know lol.
I am reading Black Jack by Lora Leigh now. For some reason its hard for me to really get into some of her books even though I do enjoy reading them. I don't know what the deal is. It can take me 3 maybe 4 days to read on of her books and I read Second Chance in hours. Anyway....Hope everyone is having some beautiful spring weather! Have a great Monday all!!

  2. Wow, an I-Team craze going on! I read "Naked Edge" a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Finished "Hard Evidence" last week but Gabe Rossiter still holds the top spot for me. We'll see how Marc does (reading "Unlawful Contact" currently).

Will start on Nora Roberts's, "Vision In White" after.

Christy - your books have been highly rec'd to me so I will be starting your Chance series soon :)

  3. I have done a couple re-reads this weekend again...but mostly I spent the weekend reading to my little ones. LOL "Dinosaur Roar" is a big time favorite at the moment. :-)
I need to go through some of these old posts and jot down the authors who have been recommened (the downside of visiting while I'm at work is that I always think I'm going to make that list, but....)

FWIW, I'm firmly Team Marc. LOL

Now, my guys are on Spring Break, so I'm supposed to be finishing my week's worth of work in the next 3 days so I can take a couple days off with them.

    Happy Monday all!

  4. Oh Scorpio
You will LOVE them! They sure are SWEET!!! Marc is....sigh....wonderful lol! Have a good day!

  5. Well, it is sunny here in Wisconsin and the temps are going to be going up so all is good here. I read an excellent book this week. Blood Vines by Erica Spindler. It was one of the best reads I have had so far this year. I recommend it to all. Hope everyone gets a CHANCE to read this week.

PS I am waiting for all three books to be out before I read the CHANCE trilogy. I get into them and get really mad when they are not there for me to finish.

    Happy reading all!

  6. Hello All,

I got to read Second Chance, yesterday, and it was awesome!! Plus, I was happy to "visit" with some old friends like Shea/Ethan and Eden/Jordan.

My other recommendation is A kiss to kill by Nina Bruhns. This is the last book in her recent trilogy and it didn't disappoint.

  7. Hi all
Read No Chance & LOVED it. Started Second Chance & was going to read it at the hairdresser but too many people I knew were there distracting me LOL. Couldn't start it Saturday night because I was already up half the night before with No Chance. off to lunch now to read Second Chance. BTW I read Broken by Shiloh Walker. Don't know why I thought it was okay to read that at bedtime instead of Second Chance. BIG mistake. I was up half the night anyway.

  8. Marc.. Gabe... Marc... Gabe
Why do I have to choose? I have 2 arms & 2 of most everything else LOL.

  9. First I must say Team Marc! Team Marc!

Jennifer, you got your hands on an early copy of "Kiss To Kill"? Ohh, and it was good huh. You Lucky thing, I cannot wait!

Read Julie James "Something About You" and it was soo good. It was a keeper. I also read Lara Adrian's "Kiss of Crimson".

I want to get Pamela Clare's "Heaven Can't Wait" downloaded. I am anxious to read it.

Crystal, I like Lora Leigh too. I hope at some point she writes a book for Jordan.

Scorpio, I would recommend you grab Christy's first trilogy too. Because once you read the Chances then you will kick yourself for not buying the rest. All the characters and books are that good and I am NOT just saying that because Christy can read this. It is true. Ask my sister, Cole has her in a tzzy! And I am using every CHANCE I get since I am the little sister to torture her by not telling her anything. Such Sweet Revenge and Sweet Justice I am getting for all the picking that was done on me. hehehe :)

  10. Thx, Crystal...I am enjoying the
    I-Team boys very much!

Hi Mary G. - it's because of your recommendation that I am here at Christy's site. I trust your taste in reading material. I heard great things abt "Broken" will have to check that out soon, my goodness my TBR pile is simply ridiculous! :)

Jackie P. - thx for the heads up, I will take your advice b/c I can be very compulsive about books too, once I love one, I want them all!

I just finished "Heaven Can't Wait" over the w/e. It was very cute and funny. Not romantic suspense at all, more like chick-lit, just wanted to let you know. Still a worthwhile read though. I was literally laughing out loud, luckily I was by myself... enjoy! ;)

    Team Gabe!!! (so far, hehe...)

  11. Hi everybody!

Well, I must say I'm all about the Team and I love Marc, Reece, and Gabe but JULIAN is my Team Captain! Love that "Dorcangelo"!

Speaking of Pamela Clare's books, I spent last week on what I'm calling my "Pamela Clare Historical Readfest." I read each and every one of her historicals and all I can say is W O W!!! That woman can write a spellbounding book(s)!! If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend them for a truly exceptional reading experience!

Jennifer - So glad to hear your review on "Kiss to Kill." Picked up my copy yesterday and can't wait to get started reading. I'm hoping that secondary couple finds their HEA (but especially hoping it's the two I want together!).

Mary G - you're gonna love SECOND CHANCE! I always take a book with me to the hairdresser BUT never get any reading done. My stylist is not the quiet type - she LOVES to talk and nothing is exempt!

Ya'll have a great day and enjoy your reading choices!

  12. I read Karen Robard's "Shattered" which I loved. I also had a chance to reread "Run to Me" over the weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well I just finished Black Jack it was pretty good. I am totally jealous of Jennifer already having her hands on Nina Bruhns new book. I can't wait!!

  14. Hey all! I'm so sorry to be late checking in. It's been a wild kind of day. Good news though. I just sold foreign rights to NO CHANCE, SECOND CHANCE and LAST CHANCE to Thailand! Yay!

I promise I'll be back in just a bit. Got some major catching up to do everywhere. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is recommending!

    Be back soon!

    ReplyDelete
  15. CONGRATS on the sale to Thailand! That's just wonderful news.

Wish you guys would all come join the party on the Merism Board where Christy is chatting and answering questions. We would love for you to join us!!!

  16. Congratulations Christy that is AWESOME!! I am so happy for you!

Hey Oklanannie I tried to post 2 or 3 comments I must be doing something wrong. I can't imagine that lol. But I have been reading and catching up on everything everyone is talking about. :)

  17. Crystal - if you open a message to read, then scroll down to the space for response (you must have your name in the "Moniker" or "alias" slot before it allows you to reply. After you type your response; hit post and it should do the job! Let me know if you have any more problems. Jackie is there now.

  18. Hi Scorpio
So nice to hear that I brought you here. We do seem to like the same books.

Anne, Sorry couldn't get on to the chat. Could not sign on. Have fun.

  19. Hey Crystal!

Looks like you did some great reading last week. But oh my, you read SECOND CHANCE in hours? LOL. It took me a year to write that book! Gotta learn how to write faster! (:

Our weather today was absolutely gorgeous! I don't think it's supposed to stay that way but I was so happy to see the sun. And the blooming trees around us are lovely!

  20. Hey Scorpio! Great to see you here. When you get the CHANCE to read my books, hope you enjoy them!

Hope you can stop by often. You'll get lots of great book recommendations along with chatting with lots of really SWEET people too!

    Thanks for coming by!

  21. Please, Christy, do write faster! lol
After a rough day, it's so nice to read over these posts and see what great books I can add to my TBR pile.
This past week, I read SECOND CHANCE, and it is truly one of my favorite books! LOVED IT. Bought a copy for a friend, who was then caught reading it at work! :) It's just that good.
I also read Slow Heat by Jill Shalvis, which I also highly recommend. I enjoyed the first book in this series, but really loved this one. This book can easily be read without reading the first one if you so choose. I thought SH had everything a good contemp romance should have. Also read Karen Robards' new book Shattered, and finally finished Linda Howard's All the Queen's Men. Great book and so glad I followed the recommendations to read it!
I am finishing up a re-read of Fragile and will be starting on Broken in the next day or so.
Hope everyone has a great week, and that tomorrow is better than today! (The weather was gorgeous today. I'd keep that for tomorrow. :)

  22. Hey Kara - what was your take on SHATTERED? I'm reading it now. Have not been able to get into it; been using the excuse of interruptions pulling me out of it. I think I'm going to have to go back and start all over again. Only in 100 pages!

Sounds like today's first day back after spring break was difficult. Hope tomorrow goes easier.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hey Ronlyn, will have to look for Dinosaur Roar. (: When I worked at Borders, I worked in the children's book department and loved finding new fun books!

I think these blogs stay up forever, so everyone can peruse at their leisure to find some great reads.

Hope you get to spend some great time with your guys on Spring break. Enjoy!

  24. Hey Sarah, thanks for the recommend!

I think several people wait until all three books come out in a trilogy before they read them. Only 28 days until LAST CHANCE. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey Jennifer!

Thanks so much. So happy you enjoyed SECOND CHANCE. Thanks for letting me know!

I didn't realize A Kiss to Kill was out yet. Will have to grab a copy soon. Thanks for the recommend!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hey Mary, so glad you enjoyed NO CHANCE! Hope you enjoy SECOND CHANCE too!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jackie, you are so funny with your sister. Reminds me of my sisters and me!

Thanks for the recommends and for recommending my 2009 trilogy too. (:

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey Oklanannie! Thanks again for inviting me to your Book Board! So many nice people over there. Including one very SWEET one. (:

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hey Jane, will have to add Shattered to my list. And hope you enjoyed RUN TO ME again. The copy of SECOND CHANCE you won last week was sent yesterday, so you should get it soon. Hope you enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Kara, I'm sorry your day was rough yesterday. Hopefully today is better!

Yikes, I hope your friend didn't get in trouble for reading SECOND CHANCE on the job. But I do hope she likes it!

Thanks again for your kind words on SECOND CHANCE. It's always a thrill to hear that.

I have Jill Shalvis on my list. Need to move her up! And so glad you enjoyed All The Queen's Men! Just let me know when you're ready for more Linda Howard recommends. (:

    ReplyDelete
  31. Christy,
Today's neither good nor bad, so I guess that's an improvement. Just the nature of the business. You should really move Slow Heat way up on your list. So entertaining! And the friend didn't get in trouble; she got caught by my younger son, who later told me I should try for her job next year. SHE got to read those CHANCE books at school, he said. LOL
I'm sure I will be reading more LH books soon. Must catch up on my ever growing pile of books first. All the Queen's Men was way more emotional than I expected. "Meeting" Ronsard's daughter about did me in. I had to take a day or two off from reading it to catch my breath. Glad I fnished it, though. I recommend it to all.
    Oklanannie,
I liked Shattered well enough. I read it quickly as it was a library book, and I had to get it back. I'm definitely glad I read it, but it won't be a re-read for me (like SECOND CHANCE will be). :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Kara, your son is so witty! I get such a kick out of hearing about him. (:

On All the Queen's Men, I had forgotten about Ronsard's daughter. What a precious little girl she was. Still didn't make what he did right, but I understood his motivation much better.

Hope you enjoy your SECOND read with SECOND CHANCE just as much as the first time!

An here's hoping that tomorrow is even better than today.

  33. Congrats on the sale to Thailand, Christy. Wonder how those covers will look.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks, Jane! Will definitely be interesting to see the covers. Foreign covers vary so widely. It's fun to see how they interpret books and the market in different places. Can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  35. OH, shoot! Got so wrapped up in my own drama, forgot to say congratulations on the foreign sale!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thank you, Kara! That's so SWEET! (:

  37. Hi Christy,

I have read No fear by SJ Frost, but that is M/M romance, so not everyones cup of tea. But another book I can highly recommend is Cheryl Holt's Promise of Pleasure. Really good Regency novel
