Recommend Monday!

Good Morning All!

How was your week and weekend? Did you do anything fun you want to share or read something so wonderful you could hardly wait until Recommend Monday to tell us about it? Please, let us know what it is!

My week was oh so good! Dylan and Jamie finished strong. Yay! Now I'm in the midst of revising and polishing. Funnily enough, since Dylan is so closed mouth, this is the longest book I've ever written. The man continues to challenge me. (:

Guess you noticed that the website changes are in progress. It's going to take a few days to get everything just the way I want, but I'm really looking forward to the new look. And, oh yeah, the back cover blurb for SWEET REVENGE is coming...most likely this week, so check back often!

I'm excited that so many of you are saying yes to an LCR monthly book discussion, leading up to the release of SWEET JUSTICE. How does Wednesday, April 20, sound for the first one? Since we just had a discussion a couple of months ago for RESCUE ME, we'll start with RETURN TO ME. However, if you're interested in talking about RESCUE ME, that's great too...especially since there's a strong tie between them.

Today, I have a recommend and a giveaway! Well, this book has been recommended by many of you already, but I'd forgotten that when I met the lovely author several months ago, I purchased her first book in her new series so I could give it away. Sigh, better late that never! Anyway, it's a great beginning to a wonderful new romantic suspense series. Oh, what's the book? Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden. The other two in the series are already out, so if you've not read them, this'll be a great opportunity for you to get started.

So, the first person who comments on this blog with the exact words of: "I want an autographed copy of Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden" wins!

Okay, that's it for me. I'm heading back to SWEET land where JUSTICE and REVENGE are leading up to a very SWEET REWARD!

Hope everyone has a spectacular week and don't forget to tell us what we should be reading!

    Happy Monday!
I'm starting my week by making vegetarian baked beans in the crockpot for dinner tonight, while scrambling to get the kids around for school. Such a glamorous fun life I lead!

I did some rereads this week, which are always wonderful. Put down Pamela Clare's SURRENDER last night with an audible sigh.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

  3. Dang, I missed first comment :).

You will not believe that i was just checking Cynthia Eden out an hour ago and was going to order her trilogy!! Had never heard of her before but came across her on Amazon recs and she sounded good.

Am a bit unwell and restless at the moment and its showing in my reading.

I have two books started and that's unusual for me: Maya Banks' Hidden Away and Suzanne Enoch's A Lady's Guide ot Improper Behavioiur.

For whoever loves Highlanders, I finished Monica McCarty's first two trilogies and have the first three books in her current series to read.

  4. Luci, what's the other trilogy? I read the Highland Guard.

  5. the discussion idea is great though i am rarely able to participate because i forget book details so easily and very rarely do rereads - not because books are not great but because i have so little reading time i prefer reading something new. I would never give away my favourite books though even though i might not reread them.

  6. Ronlyn I believe the trilogy is called the MacLeods of Skye: Highlander Untamed, Highlander Unmasked and Highlander Unchained. Then after this one there is the Campbell trilogy. These books take place in the 1600s.

I have the Highland Guard books still to read which i believe are set in the 14th century.

  7. Congrats, Ronlyn!!!

Hi, Christy! So happy you're finished with Dylan and Jamie. I just can't wait to read their story. And every time I see the cover of Sweet Justice, I get all gooey inside. Is that wrong????

I didn't get to read much last week. I was in SanFran for work, then came home to drive my daughter 2 hrs for a modeling audition (she got it!) and then dance rehearsals in the afternoon, followed by another hr and a half drive for a 4 hr dance rehearsal. Next weekend is the BIG dance competition. She is going for title, which means it's a completely full dance schedule all weekend long, plus interview, dance critique and performances. She's the only entrant in her age group, but she still has to meet the point requirements to actually "win".

I did read "He's No Prince Charming" by Luann McLane. Her books are always funny, but this one also had a tortured cowboy hero (yes, Hope, I said COWBOY) and a vulnerable heroine. It was a good story.

  8. Ronlyn is on the ball this morning!

Christy I am so excited about the website changes! Along with all the other exciting stuff going on in Christy Reece/LCR world!

I'm trying to remember what all I read last week. I know I finished reading (what is out) of the Hell's Eight series. I am looking forward to the rest of the books. This has been a very exciting series for me. The entire Hell's Eight gang excite me. lol I highly recommend this series.
I also read Blue Eyed Devil. I promised Hope I would read it. Now I must remember to keep my promise to Jackie. :) Jackie I promise I'll get to it. lol
I started Bella Andre's Wild Heat last night. I am hooked already. So hopefully it will continue grabbing me.
It is snowing here again... sigh...
I hope everyone has a great week! I am crossing my fingers that my dad comes for a visit this week. I am keeping it from my kiddos they are going to be surprised!

I'm thinking a Surrender reread in order shortly!

Luci I've read CE first book Deadly Fear it was good. I actually just won a copy of the second one last week! I had a Kris G kind of week last week. I was very lucky. :)

Kris you are one busy mom!! Good luck to Casey! I'm sure she'll score very high! Tell her congrats on the modeling audition! One day when she is famous I'm going to say "I know that girl!" Even if it isn't actually true. lol How much you want to bet Hope is all over He's No Prince Charming! :) Her couwboys and seals.... Oh wait I have the same problem as she does!

  11. Hello everyone *waving*

Congrats to Ronlyn for winning another book to add to her collection!! Kris...YAY for Casey, congrats! and *gasp* a cowboy...must check it out!

I have one recommend this week, Caine's Reckoning by Sarah McCarty, the first in the Hell's Eight series. I loved it, and have already downloaded the second one. Cowboy Ranger series set in the 1800's. Soo good.

I read another one, that I will not recommend, cause it really annoyed me!!!

Crystal, I loved that Bella Andre series, so...HOT...LOL, cause they are about firefighters...I know, I know, but I couldn't help myself.

    Have a great week everyone.

  16. Thanks, Kris! Dylan and Jamie continue to fascinate me. (:

And if it's wrong to get all gooey looking at the cover of SWEET JUSTICE, then I'm right there with you. Copy edits are coming next week and I'm looking forward to visiting with Seth and Honor again. Those two sizzle on the page!

Congrats on your daughter's modeling gig. That's awesome and exciting!

Wow, you are one busy lady, but I'm so glad you had a recommend today. I was getting worried that you weren't having time to read. Can't let that happen!

    Have a great week!

  17. I brought Cain's Reckoning with me today to pick up again. I started it before, but put it aside when I began hoping for an Indian raid to come along and...*sigh*
Crystal has assured me that, although there's not an Indian Raid, everyone gets back on track and I can like them again shortly. LOL. I'll give them another shot.

Christy, you may be right. Pamela does seem to draw out the audible sighs. But I'm realizing I love those MacKinnons more each time I re-read them.
And THANKS! I can't wait. I've read the first 2 of the Deadly books.

  18. Congrats Ronlyn. Great Series.

  19. I stayed up till 3:30AM last Wednesday reading the last of the Deadly series, Deadly Lies by Cynthia Eden. Marvelous.

Went back to Robyn Carr land sfter that. Have ordered the 2 books I'm missing & then I'll have 3 more to read.

Loved A Creed In Stone Creek by Linda Lael Miller. Loved Steven & the little bot Matt.
Picked up Hidden Away by Maya Banks but don't know when I'll have time to read it.

  20. Hi all!
    Christy, congratulations for finishing D & J´s story - I can´t wait for the cover blurb .
Ronlyn ,have fun with the autographed copy of Cynthia Eden´s "deadly fear" - I hope you will have time for some reading- you really sound very busy. And thanks again for your kind offer to send me the "McKenzie " books. Let me know if there is something you would like in return.

I have not much time this evening because my hubby is home and
quite ill with a bad stomach virus and needs a bit pamperimg.

Last week I read "against the wind" and "against the law" by Kat Martin as well as " no regret" by Shannon K. Butcher - good reads all of them. I just started with the second book in this series ( right in order this time yay) " no control" and it gripped me from the first page.

    Have a wonderful week everyone!

  25. CHRISTY! That blurb is terrific! And it definitely sounds like you may have outdone yourself in the villian department.
I've not had a lot of time to read this week. I did start a book you recommended months ago -Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. So far I am really liking it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks, Crystal. I'm excited about the changes too. And I can't wait till I can add the cover for SWEET REVENGE!

I definitely need to read the Hells Eight series. You all have recommended those books so many times.

Oh my, snow again? It's winter time here again too, but no snow, thankfully.

Have a great week and hope your dad gets to come for a visit!

  27. Hey Christi! I've heard so many great things about Julie James. Her books sound like the perfect read once I'm through with deadlines. Definitely need some levity after dealing with Mr. Tall, Dark and Silent. (:

    Have a great week!

  28. Christy, I just saw the cover blurb. Its intriguing and the waiting for the release date gets harder by the minute.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hey Hope, wow, another recommend for Hells Eight. Must. Get. Those. Books!

And I love Bella Andre! When I went to my first publisher gathering at RWA, Bella and Monica McCarty were so incredibly kind and helpful. They're not only fabulous writers but lovely people.

    Have a great week!

  30. Wow, Mary G, staying up till 3:30 to finish a book is a definite endorsement! I can't imagine going to work after staying up that late. I'm in awe.

Congrats Christy on finishing up with Dylan and Jamie...can't wait to read their story!

I read a couple good books last week...A Lot Like Love and Remember Me are the standouts! I'm reading the next book in the Rosewood Series Believe in Me right now and loving it too!

    I hope everyone's having a great week!!

  32. Thank you, Elke! D&J are hanging out with me at least until next week. Revisions and edits continue until that send button is pushed. (:

Hope your hubby gets better soon and hope you don't catch the virus!

At least you have some great books to see you through. And you will love the MacKenzie's! Linda Howard is one of my 'go to' authors for comfort reads and MacKenzie's Mountain is a once a year reread for me.

Hope you have a great week!

  33. Hello Christy! I was pretty busy yesterday, so I didn't get a free minute to check the rec's here till now. I had to LOL because I just finished Deadly Fear this morning! I really liked it. I hope to start Deadly Heat today sometime. It's great that I have all 3 books and I can go right through the series in order- if I want.
I drove to the closest bookstore near me yesterday- it's only 45 minutes away, but I am in the 'boonies' so it feels like longer... I loaded up! I got 7books... and if my husband knew it, he would freak out!(Thank Goodness I used the gift card my momma got me for Christmas!) So even though I am enjoying C.Eden's series, I keep thinking about diving into one of the lighter books I got yesterday- like A Lot Like Love.
I reccomend Jill Shalvis' latest, Animal Magnetism. I read that last week and just loved it.
I am with you gals that love the S. McCarty Hell's Eight series! I also love the Highland Guard series from M. McCarty... that is the only series of her's that I have read.
I am so jealous of those of you that have found Maya Banks' latest! Grrr- it wasn't at the bookstore, and my WalMart sure don't have it. Yet. I think I found the last one at my grocery store, so I will be checking there this weekend!
Have a good week everybody! Now I need to go check out this blurb some of you mentioned. :-)

  34. I loooove the new back blurb for Dylan and Jamie! I can already tell they are going to be one of my fave couples. ( who am I kidding, I love them all lol )

This weekend was full of family fun. I took Carleigh to the yearly Kite Festival here in Austin. If you have not heard of it, the festival is one of the biggest and long running Kite Festivals in the world. My daughter and I had a blast.

I finally finished the Fever series by Karin Mari Moning. It was one of those books you almost didnt want to finish because you dont want it to be over. Well, im off to look for a new book!

Hop every one has a wonderful week!

  35. Yay, Barbara, love to hear that Recommend Monday gave you some great reads! I love to hear Recommend Monday success stories!

  37. Alison, you're never too late to post here!

A Lot Like Love and Remember Me sound familiar. Is that Julie James and Laura Moore?

    Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes, it is Julie James and Laura Moore. Laura is a new author for me...Love her so far.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Berta! Isn't bookshopping with a gift card so much fun? I could spend hours trying to decide what to buy. And when you're 45 minutes from the closest bookstore, it only makes sense that you have to make the most of your trip. 7 books seems very reasonable to me. (:

    Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks, Heather. So glad you're looking forward to SWEET REVENGE. Jamie and Dylan are a handful but I love them. (:

Oh, a kite festival sounds like fun and I'm sure it's beautiful and colorful.

And I adore books that when you finish the last page, you so want there to be more. I've often had that experience with Judith McNaught books. Sigh...just love the romance. (:

    Have a great week!

  41. Kara, just realized I missed your comment. So glad you're enjoying Redeeming Love. It's one of those books I didn't expect to like and it ended up being one of my all time favorite reads.

Hope you're having a great week!

  43. I truly love seeing the new SWEET books featured on your cover page!!! It gets me all excited and anxious for their arrival!!!

This week has been a killer diller for me -- busy busy busy and even more busy!! But I did manage two books MARRYING DAISY BELLAMY by Susan Wiggs (which has me hooked on the Lakeshore Chronicle series now!) and The Scent of Jasmine, Jude Deveraux's latest. I loved both these books. Light, comfortable and easy reads. One contemp and one historical. Kept me happy and got me hooked on another series. I'm bound for the 2nd hand bookstore to gather up the Lakeshore Chronicle series by Susan Wiggs. I highly recommend this series if you haven't read it. Also, I LOVED The Scent of Jasmine!!

Hope everyone is having a good week and enjoying good books!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey Anne! Sorry I'm so late responding, but if I tell you that Dylan kept me away, will that work? (:

Thanks for the recommends. Wow, hooked on another series? LOL Love it!

Hope you had a great week last week. About to blog for this week, so come on over when you can!
