Yesterday was a lot of fun and yet more books have been added to my TBR pile. Thank you so much for the suggestions!
Since we talked about favorite rereads yesterday, let's talk today about favorite authors.
WHAT TOP THREE AUTHORS DO YOU HAVE TO BUY ON OR ABOUT THE DAY OF THEIR BOOK RELEASE?
Same rules apply. One answer, per person, per day will get your name in for the grand prize drawing. However, feel free to post as many times as you like. I love talking about my favorite topics with you guys.
To start us off, here's my list. Must add a caveat that I have about twenty or so authors I must have, but I'll just say three for time's sake.
LINDA HOWARD
JUDITH MCNAUGHT
KAREN ROSE (Can't believe I didn't mention her yesterday. LOVE her!)
Okay, your turn!
Christy you are killing me here! I can have several series going at the same time! Ok Top 3 *sigh*
ReplyDeleteChristy Reese (ofcourse)
Lora Leigh
Sherrilyn Kenyon
And i am not sneaking in Kerrelyn Sparks, Laurell K. Hamilton, or Charlaine Harris. Just so you know I did not sneak anyone else in.
LOL. Ida, you're too funny. So looks like you enjoy paranormal a lot. What's your favorite kind of paranormal? Shape shifter, vampire, werewolf, ghosts, etc.
ReplyDeleteJR Ward
ReplyDeleteLora Leigh
and after your first book YOU!
Sherrilyn Kenyon and Lori Foster are a couple of other. And like Ida i didn't sneak in a couple others either! LOL
All of the above? is that a choice?
ReplyDeleteAccually i would have to go with Vampires and totally funny Demon named Simi. All of the others i like also depending on the story line.
I guess i really like Strong Females that do not take any Crap. Also characters whom have had the worse things in life happen to them. or a terrible childhood. But still Do good things everyday and put all others above thier wants and needs.
I can relate on a personal basis and i guess even though they are not real. I enjoy the escape.
The moral of my story is:::: You make the choice what type of person you become no matter where you come from or who your parents are.
Kim, sounds like paranormal is a biggie for you too. I'll ask you what I asked Ida. What's your favorite kind of paranormal? Vampires, werewolves, shape shifter, ghosts, etc.
ReplyDeleteIda, I'm the same way on heroines. I love strong, determined heroines who refuse to allow what's happened in their past destroy their future. Those are the kind I like to read and write about.
ReplyDeleteI think that's an excellent philosophy to live by and want to read too!
Great question Christy
ReplyDeleteBeth Kery
Shiloh Walker
Jaci Burton
Christy Reece
Cindy Gerard
Robin Kaye
Francis Ray
Susan Mallery
Maureen Child
SEP

3 authors? I thought you said 13 LOL. Seriously I counted 29 authors I have on autobuy from Berkley alone. It would be like picking a favorite child. Thankfully I only have one of those.
How could I forget Lora Leigh?
ReplyDeleteMary, you're too funny!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should have said Top 50?
You guys are so much fun!
It's hard to pick just three!I have a couple of series I am reading right now!

Also Laurell K Hamilton ,Cindy Gerard , & Kim Harrison.
I could have keep on :) This was a hard question!
I forgot Bella Andre , Alexandra Ivy & Allison Brennan.
ReplyDeleteSo, beginning in April, 2009 with Jordan/Eden/Devon in "Rescue Me", at the top of my list is you, CHRISTY REECE!!
ReplyDeleteThen it goes like this, eeny, meeny, miny, moe . . .
Julia Spencer-Fleming's "Millers Kill" series. Love Clare and Russ and the small town community.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips - love everything she's ever written!
J.D. Robb's "In Death" series because of Roarke (and maybe a little Eve & the rest of the crew)!!!
Linda Castillo - always gives a good crime with interesting characters
Karen Rose - love her writing style, storylines and characters
I could add many more but I'm really trying to play by the rules. I said "trying"!
*Snort*
ReplyDeleteOkay, I've learned my lesson. List up to 50 of your must buys!
You guys are so funny, but it's interesting that your favorites are so similar. Must check out this christy reece person. She sounds fabulous. (o:
I am so glad that i am not the only one that had trouble picking only 3. This is so much fun reading everyones posts.
ReplyDeleteHow Pathetic am I?
Can we say NO LIFE?
OMG I forgot Bella Andre, Deirde Martin, Kate Angell - all the athlete ones. Thanks Michelle
ReplyDeleteIda ,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading the post also!
I guess that means I have no life either!! LOL
Jill Shalvis
ReplyDeleteI swear I'm done for now (sort of)
Jill Shalvis
ReplyDeleteI swear I'm done for now (sort of)
Would that up to 50 of your must buys be books or series Christy? LOL Because I only have 17 series that every book in it is a must buy or i might die.
ReplyDeleteNow if we are talking just books this may take a while. I have read around 191 books alone this year.
LOL not trying to start anything.
Michelle, I guess we can have no life together. I do not normally check back on post like this, but it has been the highlight of my day!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Soon we'll have someone listing bookstores, instead of authors.
ReplyDeleteWow, Ida! 191 books this year. That's fabulous!
This discussion is giving me ideas for tomorrow's question. (o;

ReplyDeleteKeep'em coming! LOL. No banning!
OK, as a teacher, can I just say our children's inability to follow directions clearly comes from adults! lol I was going to be 'the adult' and list only three favorite authors, but then thought, "Naahh..." How about groups of threes? My third graders are, after all, studying multiplication right now!

Mary, Thanks I love to read, but i read very fast. it becomes a problem sometimes.

ReplyDeleteSherry Thomas (historical)
Kate Noble (historical)
Laura Moore (mainstream romance)
Lisa Kleypas (historical and contemporaries)
Leslie Parrish ("Black CATS" series)
Beverly Barton (romantic suspense)
Roxanne St. Claire (have enjoyed her adventures from the first "Tropical Getaway")
Elisabeth Naughton ("Stolen"
series)
Nina Bruhns ("Dangerous Passions" series is one of the best I've read)
Took my grandson to see Santa today and Santa told me I could expect a Barnes & Noble gift card in my stocking this year 'cause I've been very very good! Guess that means I'm covered on the three new Christy Reece books! After that, I may need to get a job!
Great list, Oklanannie! If I see Santa, I'll put in a good word that everyone will get bookstore gift cards for Christmas. Not that there's anything in it for me at all! (o;
ReplyDeleteOklanannie, Your lucky. we were out the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I wanted to sit on Santas lap and tell him what i wanted, but my family said NO it was a waste of time i was on Santas naughty list.
ReplyDeleteI thought i have been good, but 5 min. ago i got an e-mail saying that The Bordres/Walden book i go to (wich is a 40 min. drive) is closeing! Guess i haven't been so good after all HU?

ReplyDeleteAnd, Ida, sorry your Borders is closing. Hopefully, you'll find a new bookstore soon!
Enjoyed today's question, Christy. Looking forward to the holiday cheer tomorrow. Gotta go ice some Christmas cookies and make a batch of maple fudge.
Ida, so sorry your Borders/Waldens is closing! We have B&N and BAM here, but no Borders. There is a Walden's about an hour away and I heard last week that they're closing too. That is just so sad. Love those stores! So romance friendly!
ReplyDeleteHey Modokker, thanks for stopping by and giving us your list. Great authors!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for trying my books. Hope you enjoy them!

ReplyDeleteHey Jackie, great to see you on here today! Great list too. And wow, are we getting some great recommendations or what?
ReplyDeleteKeep'em coming!
Hey Robin, good to see you again and thanks for listing your top ones. Feel free to post more!
ReplyDeleteIda - I hear you. I read really fast too. I can read 2 - 3 books a day (mainstream size) if I do nothing else. Way too much money. I can't help it though. I seem to like authors that grab you right away (Christy) & you can't put the book down (Christy) no matter how much you want to slow down you can't turn the pages fast enough (Christy). All the authors I mentioned are ones where I have all their books & buy them automatically. Now that I'm home & looked at my books & saw the others comments I have to add Julie James, Marie Force, Pamela Clare, Elisabeth Naughton, Marliss Melton, N.J. Walters. I don't want to leave anyone out cause they are all wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMary, you are just too funny. But oh my gosh, 2-3 books a day! That's amazing! I mean really amazing. Does anyone else read that fast? I don't think I think that fast, much less read that fast. (o;
ReplyDeleteOk i wana join in......

Hey Kerry, when you join in, you dive! Great list! Thanks so much for stopping by. It's good to hear from you again!
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks Mariska. And I love Karen Rose and have heard great things about Karen White.
ReplyDeleteGreat input, everyone. Please keep them coming if you think of more. Love to see great authors get recommended!
ReplyDeleteChristy yours of course! If I had to choose 3 besides you it would be
ReplyDeleteSuzanne Brockmann
Linda Howard
Karen Robards
Hey cmac, good ones! And thanks for mentioning Karen Robards. She's a great one too.
ReplyDeleteI always eagerly await the release date of Suzanne Brickman's books. Two of the others I can't wait to arrive in the bookstore are books by Rachel Gibson and SEP. After having read your trilogy I must also add you to my list of special authors.
ReplyDeleteMary, Me also the Harlequin books I can read 4 or 5 a day if i'm not busy. And I WILL NOT put a book down if it is good Untill i get to the last page. I have stayed up all weekend with little to no sleep reading. I read the first 7 Sookie books in 3 days. It does get expensive, but i have found really good books at the Goodwill and Dollar Tree for $1 each. to tie me over till the next book i am waiting on comes out. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh my, Kerry I forgot Lynsay Sands. She is my daughter's favorite Author. Well since they were in the house i read them to!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has a couple other authors she has read but as soon as She started reading Lynsay's books she will not be unfaithful to her and read anyone elses books, She is so silly!
Alexandra, thanks so much. And thanks for dropping and sharing your list. Be sure to come back tomorrow too!
ReplyDeleteIda, 4-5 books in a day! That is amazing. I'd get the characters all mixed up and wonder why one character ended up with another character from another book. LOL. I'm too easily confused.
ReplyDeleteAfter I finish reading a book, I usually sit and think about it for an hour or two. Reading that many in one day...that's just...wow!
Kay Hooper
ReplyDeleteBeverly Burton
Diana Palmer
My family swears i have A.D.D. the more i am doing at one time the better i do it. (might be where my son gets it from. not sure) LOL.
ReplyDeleteMore great authors, Sarah. Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
ReplyDeleteIda, I admire you. I am the worst multi-tasker in the world. I think women are supposed to have that ability but somehow that got left out of my DNA. (o;
ReplyDeleteI must have reader ADD. There are (because of the covers)books I read at home & books I can bring to work to read at lunch. That means I'm in the middle of 2 books at all times. If I'm beta reading for an author that makes it 3. I don't get confused. It helps that if you've seen one "guy" you've seen them all LOL.
ReplyDeleteA good series is kind of like someones life. you get to know them and the next book is just catching up after they have been away for a while. I usually read one at a time but have been known to have two going. Cook, clean, laundry. I have learned how to do it all while reading lol
ReplyDeleteMorning All
ReplyDeleteI forgot Jasmine Haynes BTW.
Ida you said it perfectly:
"A good series is kind of like someones life. you get to know them and the next book is just catching up after they have been away for a while."
Mary,
