Recommend Monday!

Good Monday All-

How was your weekend? Are you staying warm? It was 18 degrees when I woke this morning. I know it's December. I know it's supposed to be chilly. However, there's a fine line between chilly and ridiculous. We are way past the ridiculous stage!

No recommends for me today. I'm still sniffy, sneezy, grumpy, coughy, sleepy and dopey. LOL, yes, I'm living with Snow White these days.

But I know you must have some great recommends. So tell us what you read this past week that you want everyone to read.

And btw, SWEET JUSTICE is now up for pre-order on Amazon. Yayayayayay! Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Sweet-Justice-Novel-Christy-Reece/dp/0345524071/ref=sr_1_8?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292259645&sr=1-8

I'll have a prettier link later on when I post the back cover blurb and cover, which I hope will be within the next couple of months. Stay tuned!

Look forward to seeing what great books you're recommending. I'm diving back under the covers and dreaming of a hot, sultry, southern summer day. Heck, that's only about 5 months away!

Happy Monday All!

  4. Hey Christi, The Unsung Hero is a wonderful read, isn't it? That was one of my first Brockmann's books and made me a fan for life. Enjoy your journey with all the TS books.

And you're right, August 30 for SWEET JUSTICE does seem far away. At least it'll be warm then! (:

  5. Christi Snow...I am so glad you loved that series as much as me...Wait till Sam ::sigh::

I had some good books this past week to recommend. First, I got to the 3rd book in the Honky Tonk series by Carolyn Brown "My Give A Damn's Busted". Really cute, and lots of banter. I finished Stephanie Tyler's Promises in the Dark, which is the 2nd book in the Shadow Force books, and I loved Zane, he made my heart pitter patter. Then, I moved on to a book club book for Marie Force's club this week, Virgin River. I LOVED THIS BOOK. I can't wait to get the rest of them. I was really nervous about starting this book, cause the cover, IN MY OPINION, is boring, which in my eyes, doesn't bode well for the book. BUT, another reason to not judge a book by its cover :o) Finally, I read Maya Banks' new book "No Place to Run"... Another Sam, and he is...words escape me. If you haven't started the KGI series by Maya, I strongly suggest you start it.

Hope you are all close to done with your holiday shopping....the count down has started in my house. Feel better Christy, warm mint tea and some chocolate chip cookies will fix you right up.

I hope you feel better soon!

I've been doing a fair number of re-reads lately...haven't loved any of the new books I've read so falling back on the oldies but goodies.

  7. Hoping you're feeling better soon, Christy! Have you had any chicken noodle soup?

I read lots of children's Christmas stories over the weekend. My little elves love them . . . and it helped keep the youngest from climbing the Christmas tree!

I also finished Megan Hart's "Naked" -- whew! It was Alex's story (a character from a previous Hart book), who I was quite intrigued by. It definitely heated up an otherwise cold weekend but the ending was rushed and disappointing.

Also, I started Lora Leigh's "Tempting SEALs" series on some of the RPs recommendations. I will follow it up with Leigh's "Elite Op" series. Should keep me in reading material for awhile.

Now on to Christmas cut-out cookies and rum cake making!!

  8. Anne, I am glad you are starting Lora's series'. I really like them both :)

  9. I read Jo Davis's Ride the Fire...it was good to see Sean and Eve get together. I wonder if Jo will give Shane a book...He's been in every book in her Station 5 series...I think he needs some luv too! I also read Marie Forces True North, which I really enjoyed. She's been a must buy for me ever since I read Line of Scrimage :)

Crystal, I'm with you it took me awhile to decide to read the Virgin River series but once I read the first one I was hooked!

Christi, I'm new to the Troubleshooters series too. I just finished Breaking Point. The men in these books are amazing! I'd have to say so far Sam and Tom are my faves!

Mary, I read Kade a coulple weeks ago and loved it. What's not to love about a sexy cowboy whose devoted to his family :-)

Hope you feel better soon Christy!

    Have a good week everyone!

  10. Alison....what is this cowboy book you speak of?? I am ALWAYS looking for a good cowboy book, or series. Do tell...

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL Hope :)

These men are from Cheyenne McCray's Armed and Dangerous series. I'm not sure if they are technically cowboys, they work in law enforcement in Arizona. The setting takes place on a couple Arizona ranches. They deal alot with border control and immigration issues.

The books are pretty hot I think :)

  12. Alison....just added her to my Nook list (for when Santa brings it)...I had never heard of her before, so good to know that you liked that series.

  13. Hi all,hi Christy, sorry to hear you are not feeling better today - stay nice and warm and let yourself be pampered a little by your hubby. Great to know the preorder for Sweet justice is up -I hope the German section of amazon is up to it as well.

Last week I read my first book by SEP " it had to be you" and I liked it very much. Again a great recommendation . The next book in this series is already on my tbr list.

I also read "deadly promises" ( I missed the first one "lie to me") by Stephanie Tyler, but I must say I didn´t really bond with the characters and as that happened with " hard to hold" too I think I will not try another one of her books for a while.
Currently I am reading "edge of sight" by Roxanne St. Clair and it gripped me from the start.

Christi Snow, keep going with the troubleshooters - they are getting better and better - I can´t imagine that the series will end with the upcoming book " breaking the rules".

Have a great week everyone and not so much pre-christmas stress.

  14. Christy, I am sorry you are still under the weather hope you'll feel better soon.

It was a public holiday in Malta so we went to finish off our Christmas shopping this morning. Then i had my usual ironing marathon. Now I am settled in front of my laptop hoping to finish off my VAT return which is due Wednesday.

I am reading Stephanie Tyler's Promises in the Dark then i am at a loss at what I will read next because i received some books i had been wanting to read all in one go - Maya Banks' No Place to Run; Jo Davis' Ride the Fire; Lorraine Heath's Pleasures of a Notorious Gentleman and Sally MacKenzie's The Naked Duke. Although I will probably read a rom suspense becaause that's the mood I am in at the moment.

Alison, I had read that Jo Davis wanted to write a book about Shane and about the brother of one of the other heros - cannot remember which at the moment, I think he was a police office. The books weren't contracted yet though.

I read Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series and she wrote great books here. I love how she manages to develop a story line over a number of books although sometimes too many books pass before you get to the hero you really want to read about. I have Hot Pursuit still to read though I am leaving it till closer to Izzy's book.

I really enjoy the Virgin River series - some are better than others but they all have a magical something in them that make me feel good reading them.

  15. Hey everyone! I think winter has escaped Wyoming and is out to torcher the rest of the country. Today our high is 48 we haven't seen that in months. lol Don't worry I'm sure mother nature will things under control and get old man winter back up here where is seems to stay. :)
Christy I hope you get better soon!

I had a great reading week! I got 4 really good books read. First was Stephanie Tyler's new book. I really enjoyed it.
Next was Maya Banks No Place to Run. I was hooked on this book on the first page. I am really looking forward to Garrett's book. Probably even more than I was Sam's. There is just something about Garrett.
I also read Virgin River. I have put this off for so long. Now I am wondering "WHAT WAS I THINKING?" A wonderful book. Luckily I had Shelter Mountain in my TBR pile so I read it and finished it this morning. Wow! I am so thankful everyone insisted on this book.
Have a great week everyone! I have to get my butt in gear and do some shopping before my friend Hope sends me to Procrastination Rehab! :)

  16. Chrisi Snow, I cried my eyes out when I read Unsung Hero. The end was heart breaking for me. I love this series. They do just keep getting better. I need to get back to my re-reads of that series. Her next book will be out before long.

  17. Hope not only are Cheyenne's cowboys awesome but I think you'd love her two rom. susp. Chosen Prey & Moving Target, both sexy & susp. Just checked her site. Clay will be getting his own Armed & Dangerous book in April 2011 & is supposed to be the most erotic of all the A & D books.

Elke - hope you read the free prequel of Edge Of Sight. Great read.

  18. Hope - Mary's right...checkout Cheyenne's Rom susp too!

Crystal - I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one slacking on the christmas shopping!

Thanks for the info Luci, I'll keep a look out to see if Shane gets a book.

  24. Christy,
I hope you're feeling better very soon! There is quite a sniffling, coughing, sneezing orchestra going on all over school. Really think they should consider filming a Nyquil commercial in my class. ;)
I am reading Linda Howard's Veil of Night. It took me a while to get in to it, but I'm so glad I stuck it out. Between the hero's very bad luck obtaining coffee, and the inclusion in the story of the South and our love of college football, I laughed out loud a couple of times last night!

  25. Hey everyone--I finally made it to the left coast and I'm tired! I finished reading Shiloh Walker's Broken on the plane. Soooo good!! I also read Ride the Fire last week. I really liked it.

Christi Snow - the Troubleshooters get better and better as the series progress, so stick with it!!! You might also want to check out the Tall, Dark and Dangerous series, alot of them are being re-released right now with 2 or 3 books in one!

Alison - I agree Shane needs his own story!!!

Hope - the Cheyenne McCray "armed and dangerou" kade, luke, and Zach are all really good!!! you should definitely check them out!!! Cheynne McCray has others that are excellent too!!

Last (but never least) CHRISTY!! I cannot tell you how excited I am that the book is ready for pre-order. We are soooooo close!! It has been such a long dry spell!!!! I am soooo very ready!

  26. Hey All, thanks so much for the get well wishes. This thing is hanging on much longer than anticipated. Really resisting going to the doctor since I went last week for something else and then came down with this. I think germs live there and are more than happy to hitch a ride home with me when I visit.

Looks like some great reads were had by all last week. And I love seeing the success of Recommend Monday by so many reading recommended reads and loving them.

Thank you to those who pre-ordered SWEET JUSTICE. Lots of early pre-orders will definitely make my publisher smile, which is always a good thing.

Hope everyone has an excellent day. See you in a few minutes for Tuesday's question!

  27. I order form the Book Depository, SWEET JUSTICE is not available yet.

  28. I just finished "The Accidental Vampire" by Lynsay Sands, and before that the anthology "The Nauty List". Both were very good. Right now, I am half way through "Feel the Heat" by Cindy Gerard.

I haven't read any Suzanne Brockmann or Maya Banks -- I think I have them in my 8 boxes of TBR books - I'll have to check that! haha
